Will 2 adults like Sci Fi for dinner?

We've eaten at most of the better restaurants at WDW and are looking for something different to eat on our next trip to WDW. We are thinking about Sci Fi at MGM. Will we enjoy the atmosphere? How about the food - what are the best things to eat for dinner? I've looked at the menus on allearsnet.com and was quite surprised - I thought it was a burger & fries place.

My hubby and I enjoyed it. The food was not "the best" but the atmosphere is really awesome. Make sure you get to sit in a car, it makes the experience better. We ate lunch and got hamburgers so I'm not sure about dinner. Have you tried 50s Prime Time? Its also in MGM.

Two adults here that ate there last year. My father loved it, but he is a big sci-fi movie fan and really enjoyed watching the trailers. I felt that the food was ok, but it was a little dark in the restaurant for me. I don't know if our car was missing some lights, but it was hard for me to see my food. Our server was great and we will probably do it again.

Yes, you will like it. I've never been there with kids, always with another adult, and we always enjoy it.

We enjoyed it with kids but I will be putting it on my solo list. Some of the best "Mommy drinks" were on the menu too!

We're a party of two adults that thoroughly enjoyed Sci-Fi, although we were there for lunch. I had the yummiest vanilla milkshake, ever!

The atmosphere is really fun, but my experience with the food has been that it's sort of mediocre. My wife and I like to stop in around mid-afternoon to share a shake and some onion rings -- those are the best at the Studios.

DH and I have been there twice and both times the food was HORRIBLE...
The first time I thought... well maybe they are just having an "off" night.
Then the second time.... It was worse than the first visit.
The HORRIBLE food is on the expensive side even for a theme park.
It is a really fun atmosphere if you just want to get dessert or drinks,
but if you want good food I would pass Sci-Fi by.

As long as you don't expect great food and realize that you are going to pay an awful lot for that atmosphere, it isn't all that bad. I'm certainly never going back, but I'm glad I went there once.

We like to try different restaurants everytime we go to WDW. Dining to us is as much of the entertainment as the parks. If your looking for something different, I would say Sci Fi would be okay. The atmosphere to us is very strange and I would compare the quality of the food to a Sonic Drivein. As long as you understand what to expect, by all means give Sci Fi a try.

Thanks for the opinions - now I really can't decide. Sounds like lunch is a better option, but we usually skip lunch and have an early dinner. Decision, Decisions !!!

I have been twice. Once for dinner and once for lunch. For dinner, business convention, my friend and I split a pork chop (couple of years ago) and for lunch last September, dining with my DH, I had a steak sandwich. Both times I thought the food was yummy. It was a little pricey, but not anymore so than anyother WDW restaurant.

My husband and I like it and we're even planning on going back in September....but we did think it was really weird to be sharing a car with another party of 4. We felt we were super close to the other diners in our car. Most (all?) of the cars are 3 rows, 2 diners per row. We were seated in the back row. At one point, the waiter was talking to all of us like we were one big party...it was sort of uncomfortable.

This is a family tradition for us! We love this place! The food is so-so, but they did have some yummy desserts! The atmosphere is a lot of fun. DH and I would definitely go here even without the kids.

I'll add my .02$ here to the post. My family and I really enjoy Sci-fi. Like everyone else, I thought the food is just ok. We pretty much stick to burgers, etc. We love the shakes and desserts though.
The atmosphere is a hoot though, Love it

Another vote here to stick to lunch at Sci-Fi. While its one of the best places for lunch, it is one of the worst for dinner. If you do go for dinner, ask to order from the lunch menu!!

Lunch is a better choice than dinner at Sci-Fi. Stick to burgers and onion rings. Also, they have great "spirited" milk shakes. We always get a chocolate rum shake. Yummy.

That's good to know you can order from the lunch menu at dinner. I never thought of that!! :thumbsup2

Thanks,
