 Has anyone stayed at this resort? If so, what are your thoughts and when did you stay. Our last trip we stayed at the Poly and we are afraid we will miss the convenience of the monorail, but wanted to save a bit of money this year because we really didn't spend much time in our room. Also, can you still fax your room requests and does it really work? :earsboy:

I have stayed at both resorts, and love WL there is a boat to the MK or bus I do not miss the monorail. My last stay was in May. We did not have long waits for the boat. Both are awesome but give WL a try I don't think you will be disapointed.

Our family has stayed at WL a few times. It is a beautiful resort, very close to MK, but once you arrive you feel like you are miles away. The landscaping is beautiful and the lobby is breathtaking. We love taking the boat to MK because it's a relaxing, fun ride and it's not that long.

Take some time to explore the resort. We loved looking out in the courtyard areas in the early a.m. to see all kinds of wildlife. You might miss the monorail, but probably not for long. WL has a charm all its own and it will probably win you over.

DITTO! The Lodge is great and the boat is as well. You can take the boat to MK or Contemp. and catch the monorail for other trips such as Epcot.

I have been in the same position as you - had only stayed at Poly then triedWL. I loved WL - the theming makes up for the lack of convenience of the monorail. I loved Poly so much that i thought nowhere could be better but I ended up staying at WL about 5 times in a row! It was so great that I bought DVC membership there. I still love Poly too, and staying there in December, but nothing beats the feeling of walking into the lobby of the lodge - it is truly stunning. And by the way, the boat ride over the the MK is great.

We split our stay this past summer between the Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian. While there's no doubt that the location of the Polynesian really can't be beat, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Wilderness Lodge, and I'm sure we'll stay there again :sunny:

Check out my web site, I have pictures of the Wilderness Lodge (plus Polynesian and other Disney resorts) there. The link is below. Enjoy! :3dglasses

We have stayed at both. Our favorite things about WL- the Lobby it is beautiful & very relaxing, We liked Roaring forks much better than Capt Cooks, We also liked having everything in one building.

We just stayed in the Villas in August and loved it. It was great being just a boat ride from MK (we have a toddler). We also ate at Whispering Canyon twice (both times sort of unexpectedly but great meals) and at the Roaring Forks which never seemed crowded but had good food. The Lobby and theming is amazing. How did they turn Central Fl into the Northwest? We've never stayed at Poly-just walked around and it seems nice but I'd go w/ WL.

My MIL just called me-she read something today (but couldn't remember what) and the WL was #1 on a list of top family resorts!
We stayed at the WL last Dec. and have it booked again for next Dec. I can't wait to go back!! :cool1:

Funny...My DH & I were just discussing staying at WL instead of Polynesian next summer. It's nice to see such positive remarks on the transportation.

Breathtaking is the perfect description. Poly used to be our favorite, now we have a tie with WL! You will love it!!

We love the lodge. Of course we have never stayed at the Poly, but WL draws us back time and again.

The lobby is fabulous and great for people-watching. We like watching the faces of people when they enter the lobby for the first time. The atmosphere is so wonderful and cozy. Even when it is 90 degrees outside, I crave a hot cocoa next to the fire!

If you are not a boat person, I hear they have started a bus to MK. Don't know if this is quicker or not, but it gives another transportation option. We always feel like WL is a monorail resort because of the convenience of getting to the Poly, GF, CR, and MK. Lots of dining options within a short distance.

Another positive is that WL can be a vacation destination itself. Boat & bike rentals, wilderness trails, the beach and pool...all are relaxing alternatives to the parks. The campground is nearby and offers another array of entertainment options!

We took our extended family (ages 18-68) to BWV and WLV last year and they all preferred WL (which surprised me - I figured the young 'uns would love the boardwalk location, but they preferred the outdoor activities of the WL).

The only negative I can think of is the regular rooms at the WL seem smaller than some other rooms at WDW. This may be because the furniture is so massive and the decor is darker...I am not sure. The villas are quite spacious though.

We loved the Wilderness Lodge. The boat ride to the Magic Kingdom was awesome. My children loved the Cub Den. They had a great time and Mom and Dad went out to dinner for Valentines Day.

Highly Recommended.

Ditto --- except we went out to dinner in summer, not Valentine's Day. ;)

It is a great resort. DD and I stayed there last December and will be staying there again in January.
