Disney have told me that there is no building plans at WL this yr or next! i wish i knew what was happening here! . Everywhere else is reporting an expansion....

I do not think WDW has announced any official dates for construction so many of the CMs are probably unaware of upcoming construction.

i told them of my concerns as i am staying there Oct. I told them what i had read on these sites and they said no building this yr or next!! hence my confusion

CM's very rarely have the correct info when it comes to construction. Its like they are told the wrong info on purpose :ssst:

The same thing happened last year before WDW officially declared the feature pool refurb and splash pad. The CMs told people that there was no planned upcoming construction. Once it was officially announced by Disney, the CMs could talk about it. I don't think the CMs are given the info to tell customers until Disney want to announce it.
My guess is the construction will happen as it's been reported here and other places. It's really up to you to decide what you want to do about that possibility.

The WL pool refurb began at the beginning of September last year. I think I remember that it was officially announced in late June or early July. I would think if construction is going to begin there in September, they would have to make an official announcement pretty soon. I get that it's a dilemma for you. It would bother me if I were in your position. I was in that position last year with the pool.

There is lots of information on here re the expansion plans for WL. I would trust that over what a CM told you on the telephone. We were told last year that there would be no construction at the Poly when we would be there in November! We moved to the GF anyway and were very happy that we did. The Poly was a mess!

I do not think that the construction at the WL will be as invasive as the work on the poly was, but I would make my plans expecting it to go ahead. The question is: Will you be more disappointed if you move and find out that it was unnecessary, or if you stay put and arrive to see construction going ahead?

I wish that WDW would let people know the facts up front. However, they don't seem to be in any hurry to let you know what is happening. With their track record of slow disclosure, I would be sceptical of what I heard from them at present concerning the WL.

Good luck deciding!

I found it on the Disney Blog that they applied for permits but when they will start up in air but could be earlier as September. The IPO told me since we are staying this coming Sept on club level that nothing going on. I to
her to check the Disney Blog as it was announced on it. She said they would send out an email if it will affect my stay.

When the did the redone at the BWI I never received an email. I am rather tired of how Disney does their job. All about the money not the guests. Oh well. Still thinking of what to do. It is only 4 nights but...

Also keeping an eye on this as we are in the WL in the fall too. We ditched WL last year with the pool stuff and were VERY glad we did. That said, I don't want to move this year unless there will be issues for sure. Half the crew really missed WL.

CMs you call only tell you what is printed in front of them until Disney makes an official announcement. And even if they know, they will not be able to acknowledge it. It happens over and over and part of it is to keep rooms booked. Announcements seem to hit when it makes it harder for you to switch resorts.

In March they filed the permit to install the temporary construction trailer with end date of December 17, 2017.

I'm looking at all the filings and this is a solid and confirmed project that has already had substantial prep work done.

The question is when will the clearing and work begin.

STRAIGHT off the Construction schedule application -
" The current schedule proposes to begin construction in September 2015 and complete work in April 2017."

What others have said about CM info :). Mrs Moon - WE had to tell our very good CM friend at the WL about the expansion :). And the work is already in progress (well, some of it) - the main hotel wing, closest to the existing DVC. This wonderful board has photo evidence of that :).

Do you think if they do start work our holidays will be effected or do you think that staying in the main lodge we would be far away enough of noise and construction sights

If you book a courtyard view room, you should be able to avoid directly looking at anything. How much noise, etc is anyone's guess right now. However, it is usually limited to daytime hours when most people are in the parks, so unless you have a child needing naps you could be OK, if staying here is really important to you.

personally, I would wait another year, but we go back frequently.

Good luck!

I was at the tail end of the pool refurb last year. We checked in on December 1st. The work was supposed to be finished by November 27th, but it wasn't. Inside, everything was fine. Outside...not so much. It was noisy, intrusive, and there were construction equipment and workers all over the feature pool. After that experience, I vowed to never stay at a resort undergoing construction again. It was a pretty big negative for us. Again...only outside, but that mattered to us a lot.

Technically speaking, WL isn't expanding, the new buildings would be DVC (although I could be wrong). If I'm not wrong, they could say there is no expansion planned for WL and not be out and out lying to you. Just a thought.
