What is the best and quickest way to get to and from the Magic Kindom from the Wilderness Lodge. We will be going December 16th for a week, and will be going back and forth with our many children.

Thanks!!!:cool1:

The quickest way would be the bus. From when I was there, it was direct and did not share with Ft. Wilderness. The boat is shared with Ft. Wilderness & stops at the Wilderness Lodge first. The boat ride is nice, but it's not a fast way to the MK.

:cheer2: Welcome to the DISboards :cheer2:

If you are using disney's transportation, you can take either the bus or the boat. The bus is much faster! I think it's a 5 min. ride!

The boat is shared with FW, but before 3:00 pm it goes from WL to MK then FW. The boat may have several people on it from FW by the time it reaches WL. After 3:00 pm it goes from MK to WL then FW. The boat ride itself takes about 10 minutes when going directly between WL and MK.

As mentioned the bus takes about 5 minutes.

We were just there and I agree the bus is much faster. The boat seemed to take forever. It did stop at FW after it picked us up. Most of the boat ride was peaceful, but going by the construction at CR made the scenery unattractive. We did the boat once and then found the bus to be much more efficient.

Was this after 3:00 pm that they went from WL to FW then the MK? For several years it has been scheduled as I mentioned above. I will be at the WL two times this winter and am curious if the route has changed. I have stayed at WL about 35 times over the years and early on the WL had its own boat to the MK, but it changed a few years ago and shares with FW.

When we were there last year, the bus didn't go to MK directly. It took us to TTC. We inquired about a direct bus to the MK at the front desk, and they also were not aware of one.

We are going to be at the WL on Monday and are hoping there is a bus to take to the MK. Has anyone been there recently and can confirm this? Also, does the bus to the MK operate all day during park hours? And is it direct to the MK, or does it stop at any other hotels/locations?

Thanks!!! :mickeyjum

Just be careful if you take the boat -- 8 years ago (in February) we stayed at the WL and waited on the boat early, hoping to get to the MK prior to opening. It was a bit foggy and the boat never came. Finally a castmember came by to tell us that there would be no boat service but by then we had wasted a lot of time.

Another option is to take the boat directly to Contemporary and walk over.
Probably a 5 minute walk.

Thank you all to have responded. We will plan on using the bus for speed and the boat for fun!!

DW and I were just there in Sept. They bus does run directly to the MK.

If you are planning any early AM breakfast or tour (before buses start running) you can take the boat to CR and follow the walkway to the MK. It's an easy walk from there.

We just got back on Tues (10/23) and YES the bus goes directly from WL to MK without making any other stops.

It starts running earlier than park hours. We had an 8:05 breakfast at Crystal Palace in the MK and caught the bus at 7:20 when the park didn't open until 9 am that day.

We loved taking the bus- it is only a 3 min ride. We do take the boat once or twice for the experience but we had better luck (quicker transport) on the days we took the bus.

One evening after fireworks- there was a massive line waiting for the boat (one had just departed)as we headed for the bus. We had no wait for the bus- it was there just waiting and were back at the Lodge even before the first boat had arrived.

If you have a stroller or a sleeping kid in your arms...nothing beats the boat

Last year during the Fall, there was not a direct bus while the bus depot at the MK was modified. The direct bus started again in Dec if I remember correctly.
