Can you tell me if I can rent points for a res at the Lodge rather than the Villa's. I believe the Villas are not available for the entire length of stay I want and I was wondering if a DVC member could make a res for me at the Lodge and I could rent the points needed rather than a villa res. Any advice?

You'd have to check the point calculators but generally speaking, staying at a WDW resort (and not the DVC villas themselves) are a much higher point value and therefore not as cost effective.

You cannot use points at the BC, BWI or WL.

When you say the villas are not available, who told you this? If it was CRO, that is a cash reservation and comes from a different inventory than point reservations. There might still be reservations available via points. If it was a member that contacted Member Services, than that was from the point inventory.

Points cannot be used at the hotels associated with villas.

I think it was a member who told me. So I hesitate to make the res if I can not get the full stay in the villas. If, however, I can book the majority of my stay thru a member then book 1 or 2 nights thru a cash res then it might work. Is this right?

The only problem would be linking the reservations. There is no way to link a MS reservation on points with a cash reservation from CRO. I know, that's what I have in June and both MS and CRO told me that. But MS asked for my CRO reservation number and they put that on the MS reservation. So, hopefully, we won't have to move.
