Wilderness Lodge Pool

We have been go to the WL since it's opening. I have never found the pool so busy so as not to be able to find a seat. Our last Visit..May '07...we were eating breakfast poolside and noticed numerous guests "reserving" their lounge chairs while on their way to the water launch for a visit to the MK. Seems they wanted to secure a seat for themselves for when they returned from the park. The pool staff went about removing the towels. They would look around for other belongings and if there wasn't anything but a towel..they would remove it..leaving them open for guests who wanted to make use of them. I might agree that at one time the pool could get crowded..but since the opening of the Villa Pool...this has been much less the case. I haven't ever had a situation where I couldn't find a lounge or room in the pool. We've probably gone at least 8 times to this resort. I also was under the impression that the Villa Pool is for both WL guests and Villa guests. I believe this is indicated in the packet you receive during check in.

There are two spa's at the Lodge one is Hot and the other is Cold or warm this is from The Silver Creek Star.

Smimming and Water Adventure

Beginning as a Hot Springs color pool in the Main Lobby, the water flows under the window wall to become Silver Creek, a quiet contemplative setting in the upper courtyard. The creek widens as it develops into a rushing, roaring waterfall adjacent to Overlook Point-another traditional National Park icon-and widens again into a feature pool area which appears to be carved out of the rockscape. A kiddie pool and hot and cold spas complement the swimming area which seems to flow into Bay Lake. A geothermal area with steaming color pools and Fire Rock Geyser offer excitement nearby.

Lifeguard on duty (seasonal hours). At the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Guest can also enjoy Hidden Springs Pool a unique "water hole" tucked away from all the hustle and bustle (No lifeguard on duty). For your safety and enjoyment, diaper-age children are required to wear swim diapers or rubber pants when using any pool at the WDW resort.

Our pools are intended for the exclusive use of Disney's Wilderness Lodge and The Villas @ Disney's Wilderness Lodge guests. Swimmers' aids are only allowed in shallow water. Life jackets are available at no charge at the Teton Boat & Bike Rental with a Resort ID card.



I can understand why someone (if the childern had regular diapers on) wouldn't want to join them in the spa. I'm vocal enough to call the parents on this, I don't believe that a few guest not following the rules should ruin it for other guest.

I have stayed at WL several times, and have never noticed one hot tub being "cold". When I was there, they were both hot. Kids in the hot tub is one of my biggest pet peeves. The minute a kid gets in, I get out. I wish they would make one hot tub at each resort "adults only".

Some parents act like the spas are kiddie pools because they are smaller than the regular pool. I wish all spas were "Adult Only."

I was a the Lodge late one night with about 4 adults when this little girl about 5 walk over and just steps into the spa she sank like a rock, she went straight to the bottem. I was so shocked I actually sat there for a few seconds before I went over and grabbed her from the bottem of the spa (she didn't come up after she went in) My sister said I must have been scared because all I kept asking the child was "Where is your Mother?" I'm still not sure where that child's parents were. What would have happened if my family hadn't been out late that night and the little girl had fallen in. The spas at the Lodge are deep, for a small child.

We have always taught our son to be courteous to others and he never left our side. He has also never been allowed to run wild. I really cannot believe how some of these people do not watch their children. ...thank goodness, MagicinMyHeart that you were there.

Thank you to everyone! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on the WL pool. I have learned soooo much and feel much more comfortable about the whole pool business. We, my husband, son and I, are very excited about our stay at WL in June. See you Ohio...Florida here we come!!!!

Sorry the Cast Member was wrong the facilities at both the Lodge and the Villas are shared, guest staying at either resort may use either Pool.

Ah - who knew. Just reiterating what I overheard & what I had come to believe from listening to the DVC boards.

Good to know though as last stay there DS wanted to swim at hidden springs pool and I thought it was off limits to us as we were in the hotel.

We are DVC'ers with our "home" at VWL. In all our visits there, we have never been able to use the hot tubs at the Lodge because of children overwhelming them. Yes, the Villas have a hot tub and we have used it, but whenever we've tried to approach the Lodge hot tubs, whether morning, aft or evening, they have been monopolized by children without parental units.

You can flame me if you like, and the majority of parents do teach their children consideration of others, but this location seems to attract bad behavior.

We were their in August on last year. Yes, the pools are crowded but you can still enjoy. We would sometimes go to the pool at 10:30 or 11 at night and they would still be very busy.

In regards to the hot tub, one was so hot it was unbearable for us especially in August.

When we stayed at the WL once during pool maintenance we were told that the villas pool is meant for the villas only and that we could use either the Contemporary or the Polyenisian pools. Lots of people used the villas pool regardless and I know of a couple who complained while they stayed at the WL villas and could not get near the pool. They ended up getting a beautiful gift basket. Disney's reasoning is that maintenance usually happens during low season and you can expect these things, just like they have rehabs in the parks during low seasons. Still when both pools are open I like to see people use the villas pool and have fun in it as I sometimes like to use the hotel pool when I stay in the villas.

Swim diaper are allowed in all pools at WDW, at the Lodge there are two spa's one is hot the other is cold so the childern may have only been in the cold spa.

Both hot tubs are hot. There is a kids pool that is not a spa at all that is cold.

Does anyone have any pictures of the WL pool? We will be there in June. I really wanted a zero entry, but this may need to work because of transporation. Do they have a kids pool too? Our boys will be 1 and 4. Do you know if there are any sprayers or fountains in the pool? Thanks

Their is a kiddie pool. I don't remember any sprayers or fountains in the kiddie pool though.
