Wilderness Lodge Photo Thread- Please feed my addiction!!

Hi,
I rec'd a pin code and upgraded my family to WL!!!!!!:goodvibes My DH loved the look of the WL but our budget allowed us to stay at a mod. We have stayed at the cabins and CBR. Now we are booked for Apr.22-29!!! My DH is happy! I used my code and the same deal only cost $40 more to go from CSR to WL!!!!:thumbsup2
My DD 16 is in a wheelchair so I hope this resort is a good choice for her. The cabins were almost too private and CBR too big. She found it a long "hike" to the food court. We need 2 rooms because my family is 5 plus a cousin. My DD 21 and her cousin share a room. I hope we enjoy our stay there! I would greatly appreciate any advice you have to offer!:goodvibes

This is a great site! I have read alot of the posts from back. Enjoyed the pics.! I am back to pg. 84, still have alot of reading!;)

Oh I forgot to mention we will be there for my DS 11 b-day and my b-day! I will be the big 40!!! Oh my,,,, but what a great place to celebrate!!!
I think that you will love ther WL. We chose it in Dec. 2007, when my In-laws went with us, due to some mobility issues. THey loved that it was all under one roof, and that they didn't have to go outside to go sit in the lobby, Roaring Forks, etc. It is fairly compact, as far as a Disney Resort goes. Just be aware that sometimes you may have to wait a little longer for a boat that will accomodate your DD's wheelchair, as not all can. You always have the busses, and some of the boats will be fine, but for others, she would have to transfer out of her chair and down a couple steps.
Does anyone know if the Photo Pass photographers are hanging around in the lobby for the holidays to take pictures? Not the Professional services you can book... just the "regular" Photo Pass folks that will take a few shots and add them to your Photo Pass card/account. We are heading down for our stay on Friday and I'm thinking about taking some nice clothes to try to get a good Christmas card shot or something. We love the Wilderness Lodge at Christmas!

Thanks!

I had read in another thread that they were. I am hoping that is the case, as I am planning on doing the same thing. We arrive on Sat.

Thanks for the reply. We are looking very forward to staying at the WL!!!! I am "studying" the resort on here!!!:goodvibes So, we know what to expect!!! Thanks again! :woohoo:

Maybe someone will know on here. Question, will I be able to purchase a b-day cake at the WL? Is there a bakery there? Thanks!

I think you can, by calling Private Dining. I don't think they have as many choices as the hotels with bigger bakeries, like the CR and GF, but I think I have seen some cakes ordered from WL on the cake thread over on the dining board. I think they even list the #'s for all of the different bakeries on it, so you can call now to order.

OK thanks!!!! I will have a look!!!! We went for our b-days in 2007 and did not know we could purchase a cake!!! We have since found alot of great info. on here!!!!! Our 2009 trip was greatly improved now our 2010 will be even better!!!!!:goodvibes

I finally have some new photos of the lodge to post! :cool1: These are some from our trip in the first part of November.

We returned yesterday evening. We were there for a week. I believe I had mentioned that we were taking our oldest grandson (almost 3 Years old) and his mom on their first ever trip. I carried several pounds of Camera gear and a camcorder every day (not to mention him often times), but could not get away and find time on this trip for photos other than of him enjoying WDW and meeting the characters. Although I didn't get to walk around taking photos of the lodge this trip, it was well worth it for me to see him experience it all. By the way, we were very dissapointed that the waterfall out back was not lit at all our entire trip. Anyhow DisneyNDecember you will have to take enough for the both of us. Wishing you and yours the most magical trip.pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Glad you had a great trip, you had more important moments to capture on that camera of yours, that little grandson !!

I wonder why the waterfall was not lit? Probably the same reason the Lights of Wonder at Epcot was discontinued?? I am still having a hard time letting that one go. :santa::santa::santa:

Yeah there have been some changes this year. We have been to WDW in December now about 5 times and Epcot didn't look the same without L.O.W. even though the big tree is still there. The waterfall not being lit was a real bummer also. That was one of the things I loved to shoot out back of the lodge. I miss not having walked around the lodge for some shots, especially since I had a new lens for this trip. Anytime Andrew was awake he was ready to "go ride rides" and anytime he was down for a nap or for the night, I was recharging from carrying all the camera gear and sometimes him (35-40lbs). I have never needed a recharge time except overnight before going on this trip. Andrew is a total "ride junkie" and his favorite was Goofy's Barnstormer. He rode that roller coaster 20 times in three trips to the MK. We would put our arm around the back of his head to stabilize it, but other than that he would just jump in the cart and hang on to the hand bar. He would even make the WOO holler in the drops and curves like he heard other people doing. He loved, loved, loved, the drops and sharp banking turns and I got a few photos of him doing that. The ride would be over and pulling into the station for unload and he would already be asking if someone would ride roller coaster with him again. We would have to finally say enough and drag him away crying for more after about six or seven trips around on that ride. His feet would hit the floor in the morning asking if we could ride roller coaster? We tried to make him happy by riding other rides and he would ride them several times and often ask about roller coaster again. There is no doubt in my mind he would have loved Big Thunder Mountain, but he is a couple months shy of 3 years old and he is tall at 37". I don't know of any 2 year olds tall enough to meet the 40" requirement, so he will just have to wait for a future trip. He also had a meltdown in AK when he saw the Primeval Whirl and we told him he couldn't go on it. Good thing I love them also, so when he gets tall enough we can hit them all.
