Wilderness Lodge Mess

I called yesterday and at first was offered to have the waterparks included for free. I explained we weren't planning to go to the waterparks since we were only there for 5 days. She checked the deluxe resorts and most were filled for our dates but we did end up being moved to the Boardwalk for the same price as our WL package. I thought I was on a free dining package but it was a Visa discount package. We have always stayed at WL so I have no idea how this location will work for us. She did offer to move me to a woods view and $50 off per night. But we really wanted a functioning pool with the Sept heat.

She did say that there shouldn't be much disruption at WL. They are giving the pool a zero entry and adding a a splash pad and that construction would wrap up by 4 pm so not to disturb people's evening.

She was definitely great about the entire situation.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Boardwalk? She did give me 72 hours to think about it.

Boardwalk is great. The Epcot resorts area is my favorite. The ability to walk to both Epcot and DHS is priceless. The Boardwalk is fun during the evening as well. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.

I am on free dining . no luck. I tried several times. very disappointed. I moved to animal kingdom but fearing the isolation

Email or call Guest Services. There was no availability for my dates either, but GS is working to resolve the issue so they have availability that the other CM's don't have access to. They offered me BW, BWV, and BC.

I think it just depends on the dates...

When I called I was offered Boardwalk for the same price I was paying at WL. I haven't stayed there, but I have stayed at the Swan/Dolphin a few times. I looked before booking and saw rooms at Boardwalk, so I was thinking I would switch there and was excited.

CR only had suites left online and when I called GS as well.

We talked about GF and when she came back from being on hold for 20 minutes I got a great price so I went ahead an took it! My niece really wanted to stay there anyway!

Awesome news. Glad you finally got it worked out. You will love the BC. As far as availability goes, I think they have tons of it at GF. It must be ok at CR because they let me upgrade to TPV for a very minimal cost.

Love Boardwalk!! I've stayed there without my family because I love that resort. As a family, we usually stayed MK area (GF) because of proximity to MK and the monorail. DH is anti-bus :worried: This last December we stayed at Swan a couple of nights because we had points. DH loved it and now prefers to stay there.
I'm sure you'll like it too!! :thumbsup2

Do you know the email address?

After much hesitation, we made the switch to the Boardwalk Inn. We had a woods view bunk bed room at the Lodge. If it was just my husband and I, we would have stayed at the Lodge, but our kids, who don't know we are going yet, would have been bummed with having no pool. I also wanted to switch before the availability was gone. We haven't stayed at either resort and we saved a little bit of money by switching. We were looking forward to staying at the Lodge because we have always wanted to stay there, but now thanks to these boards we are looking forward to Boardwalk too. :)

I'm far from pleased with what Disney offered my TA. AKL Savannah view with a $50/night credit. Um, no, I booked what they advertisd as a MK-area resort with a courtyard/pool/water view from our balcony (and I booked months after they apparently pulled the permits to de-construct that courtyard/pool view when I'd be there!). We were paying for BBs too, so we had booked the most expensive non-CL room at WL.

They also told her that the only "comparable" MK-area rooms would be CR-Garden-either the Standard or Garden views (which I don't think have balconies). But because they aren't available I am out of luck. Ironically, the Garden view was showing available on the MDE app at the very time they told her this!! Granted, I don't want it, but it shows you that it's hit or miss with Disney service. No faith in Disney right now.

I'm just glad that my kids have never been (so they don't know what they will miss if we end up cancelling) and that we haven't bought tickets yet. So all we will be out if this doesn't get resolved is the cost of the MVMCP tickets.

Just looking for clarification- for the people calling in and getting deals on room rates, are you on free dining? I'm assuming not, but want to confirm. Planning first disney trip for friend 11/19-11/23. Most of their time will be in MK so wanted that area. Not having the pool isn't a big deal but noise/big mess could be. GF doesn't have any more FD rooms for these dates. Room discount packages don't extend out this far... Trying to give her best options, so opinions welcome!

Yes, we are on a free dining bounce back offer and received an additional discount off the room price. There was not any availability at a MK resort during our trip, so we did not want to switch resorts.

I'm sorry you're not happy with the offer. Maybe a room in one of the other monorail resorts will come available?

Have you been to AKL? We, especially my kids, love it there and savannah view is pretty awesome. Every morning we get up and check to see what animals are out having breakfast.

Hopefully this will get resolved and you will have a great vacation!

We are room only, and as my above-post notes...as of yesterday there's no availability for a "comparable" room at an MK resort. WL-CY-BB is deemed comparable with only CR-Garden-Standard or CR-Garden-Garden, and my TA was told they aren't available. So I'm not sure FD or RO makes a difference at this point.

I never got a letter but I called the number listed here today anyway. I booked my WL ressie through UK Expedia and because I didn't book directly through Disney, they can't offer me anything like the upgrades or discounts that many of you are reporting.

Now, I will say that this doesn't bother me. I got an awesome deal on the WL as it is, we will be there at the end of the renovations and the pool just might be open and we weren't planning to go to the pool at the end of November anyway. And with a standard room booked, I'm not worried about view issues. We booked it for the Christmas decorations and those will still be there.

So for those who didn't book directly, be advised that you may not get what a lot of other people are regarding the pool issue. I was told that since Disney doesn't control my reservation I'd have to contact Expedia see what they will do (which I'm certain will be nothing.)

I'm in the same boat. I haven't called because I was guessing thats the answer I would get. I'm checking in on 11/27. I'm hoping that it will be done but doubtful with Disney's track record for having renovations done on time. This happened to us at GF during the courtyard pool renovation in 2012. It wasn't finished on time but GF has the feature pool which is a short walk away. No busing needed.

Maybe we'll get lucky with a room upgrade if the resort is not too full? :confused3

Sweet of you! Yes, I'm told that it's lovely-my sister has stayed there. It's just not our choice for a first visit with 2 young kids. We were going to spend most of our time at MK, and didn't want to have to rely on the Disney buses due to the time implications and stroller. We were planning on boats, monorail and the occassional taxi. Not to mention that all ADRs were booked assuming that we'd be at the WL... What a mess.

So we have picked to stay at WL after many hours of discussing a move. I did call the number on the letter we had got about pool refurb. I simply asked if we could change rooms from court yard to woods because what's the sense of paying for a court yard view when it will be a mess? The only woods view room they had had bunk beds. It is just my husband and I so I felt funny taking a room with bunk beds. So we said we will stay with court yard view but I was disappointed. The cast member asked if I had anything else she could help with me and then that was it. I guess I was crossing my fingers for a better answer from her, esp since I hear people getting a move or a discount. I am not one to stomp my feet and complain, so maybe that's why I wasn't offered anything else. Who knows maybe when we check in they could switch our room. And last night I got to make our FastPass+ selections!!

Just curious, but did you ask for a discount and they said no? I hate confrontation myself and am not a foot-stomper, but if others are getting a discount, I would like one as well. Have not had the courage to call yet!

We have also decided to stay put at WL for our November 14-22 stay. I called and spoke to guest services and received either an offer for $50/night room credit (orig. booked at a courtyard view on free dining) or $500 room credit to switch to another resort. We want to stay in the MK area so she did check CR and had a garden view room in the garden wing section for a little more in price but that location does not appeal to me at all. She also had castle view in tower but would have cost way over $1000 to switch (even with credit). Same with GF, only availability is lagoon and castle view and pricing is way out of our budget.
So we are sticking with WL and took the room credit. :cool1:

The rep also advised we will receive BB tickets at check in and that construction will be over daily by 5pm. She stated that there is also a 40% chance the construction may finish before the expected timeframe/before our stay (not sure if I believe this but she did make it sound hopeful).

My sister called today and was offered $50 off per night and the water park tickets. She was not offered the $500 credit towards another resort. She even asked the cast member why some guests were receiving the credit and not everyone. The cast member acted like she'd never heard of this mysterious credit. :rolleyes1
