Just wanted to let y'all know that the box is still there - DH and I visited it on Saturday. It's getting tough to close it; we were concerned because we knew it would be raining on Sunday, and rearranged some things to get it to shut. We left a little something in it, and hid it back where we found it. (We were also surprised to find out that one of the concierge CM's knew about it!! )

Hmmm, Fred..sounds like a bigger box is needed.

Maybe Florida Cat can come to the rescue. Wow a CM knew about it!. sounds like the word is getting out. We may need a treasure chest in the future, LOL.

I know that the quest to find the memory box was a highlight for myself and DS. Its like they say, " the little things in life" that bring joy.

I'm kinda hesitant to do this but....well....the flight isn't booked yet.....well.....uhh.......

I will probably be able to replace the box personally as we have reservations to go down mid january. We have not booked airfare as of yet so PD for us to find a good rate please!!!

I plan on going two sizes up from the current container. That should be large enough to do it yet not be TOO large right?

Thought that would get your attention! No I didn't see a snake anywhere around it.

But this was the most fun that my non-disney husband had on this trip! He wanted to get a fake rubber snake and put in the box!

HE DID NOT! NO SNAKE! But he had a blast just thinking about it!

We found the box on December 1st! It was such a fun experience but I didn't know what to put in it for sure or just write my name down. So I did both!

I took pictures of my son and dad finding the box it was teriffic. Thank you for the box!

We found the memory box on Saturday 12/13. My wife and son thought it was great and we left a little gift inside along with our name and info. My 8 year old son was the one who finally found the box (although the directions were perfect, the x is still there). The box was full but could still be closed with no problem. This was a perfect end to a wonderful first (but not last) trip to the Wilderness Lodge.

Thanks for all the updates and stories everyone. It's people like you that make this box as special as it is. I can only take the credit for the idea and putting it there. If nobody took part in the hunt it wouldn't be much fun.

I plan on getting down there to replace it with a box two sizes larger and hope that holds for a while. This time, I may actually put it in a large ziplock bag or something to keep it even more waterproof and also keep the mold I have been hearing about OFF of the box itself.

Will be there on Sunday with the family for our Christmas surprise trip to Disney. Not much of a surprise since I surprise them every year. But sure looking forward to the WL as its cold here in Florida. Its suppose to get down to 40 tonight. Burrrrr.

I can't wait to get to the Lodge and search for the box!!!! We go in a few weeks. Is it still in the same place. I have the original directions printed out in my folder with all my confirmations #, and PS, park hrs..all the important stuff..and wanted to make sure (without searching through all 10 pages here) that it's still the same place!!!

I too have a scrapbook page planned.

Mad4Mickey...we're going in Jan too (11-16) and we're from the burbs of BigD as well!!!!

This is on my "Not to be Missed" list....can't wait.

Majestic (Father of the Memory Box) is planning a trip to the Lodge soon, I believe in January also, so check back on this thread to check status before you leave. We had such a good time we plan to go on the HUNT next trip as we will have family members that haven't found the box yet.

Yeah it looks as though my dates are 1/14 to 1/18. Make sure that you go to the link in my signature and list your dates in my who's going database!!! I didn't see Mad4mickey or Disfam95 there.

I plan on "bringing a bigger box" to replace our current one. Still trying to come up with ideas to avoid the mold thing...

Hey there!

We just got back last night. On our first day (12/15) there, we found the box. It was so exciting. THANKS FOR THE GREAT DIRECTIONS...it was to the tee. I didn't touch it cuz it was covered w/ some vines, so DH did all the work. We didn't take anything, we just left a 2003 NYC Detective PBA card. It was the only thing we had on us related to NYC.

But yea, like everyone said, a biggie box is needed. DH and I joked that eventually, it'll be a big storage tupperware just sitting behind the tree.

We found it yesterday, December 21st. It was a great reason to take a leisurely walk around the area. How beautiful the area is!

We left a Wright Flyer magnet in honor of the Wright Bros. who hailed from Dayton Ohio, and also in honor of the "100 Years of Flight" celebration in 2003.

we stayed dec6-17th at WL concierge and AKL.
we ventured out on afternoon and upon coming to the tree we found a family with the box. so we asked them to rehide the box and we came back a couple days later with my mother in law and sister in law and filled out the card . we are the ones who drove the Hummer down.

it was a great things to do. the box was pretty filled up.

Wow! I NEVER thought THAT would happen! Two people searching for the box at once??? What are the odds? It's obviously getting to be pretty popular.

Bigger box is in the works....I will be replacing it in mid January when I go down. I also hope to get GPS coordinates for it when I am there.
