Hi.
I was just wondering if someone could please tell me if the Wilderness Lodge Concierge is worth the money? It is about $35.00 more per night than the Polynesian, so do you think it (WL Concierge) is better than staying at a Garden View room at the Polynesian?

Secondly, I was wondering if someone could tell me about the room views at the WL Concierge. I've heard that the views from the room can be not so good.

Thank you so much for your answers in advance.

My wife and I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for our 10th anniversary last October. I had originally requested a Courtyard view, when we got to our room, we discover that it was 1st floor pool side but the views were blocked by big bushes. I called back to the front desk and they moved us up to the top level (4?). What a view! See the lake, pool and everything. Definitely a beautiful hotel. I've always thought of using the concierge service, but when I see what it gets me, have never really seen the benefit. Just my thoughts.

When we have checked the rates everytime we go to WDW we find the WL CL cheaper than the PR CL. Personally, we would choose the PR CL over the WL. Again, this is personal preference based upon theme-Disney Feel, location, views, and the CL at the PR actually has a lounge...where the WL uses the top floor hallway.

I would not switch to the WL CL from a Poly room unless you were not on the meal plan and were going to rely on the snacks offered in the lounge. The rooms at the WL are smaller than at the Poly on average and the transportation is not as convenient.

Really it comes down to theming. Do you like the South Seas feel of the Poly or want the more rustic, woodsy feel of the Large Lodge format? Both pools are good, but i prefer the slide at the Poly.

Go with what appeals to your sense of relaxation.

We have not stayed WL cl....but that is what will be doing in Jan. To be honest we were debating the exact same thing as you. DS wanted to stay at the Poly and DH was ready to do that, until he realized we could stay club level at the lodge for $40 more a night. We've stayed at WL our last two vacations, and we just love it! The courtyard view is wonderful. I know that cl at WL does not have room catagory just for a courtyard view, but you can request it, which we have, that doesn't mean we'll get it either. The standard cl rooms are on the 7th floor and have an enclosed balcony and you have to stand up to see, I assume it's like that b/c of the roof design and safety. Reasons we chose WL... theme, enclosed buildings (you don't go outside if you don't want to) mousekeeping has always been great for us, love the restaurants, we're in an MK resort and we don't have to get the dxdp b/c of the lounge :cool1: And of course the last obvious reason, you'd be staying cl not just a standard room and cl guests get other perks as well.

I have stayed at both the Poly Garden view and WL CL. I would definetely choose the Poly. Obviously being on the monorail is great but the 1st time I walked in to my room I thought I died and went to heaven. I really love their rooms. They also have 2 great restaurants. A few years ago I had an unexpected stay at WL woodsview and loved it,so when I was able to get a great rate to stay WL CL I jumped at the chance. I was really disappointed to say the least.1st the room seemed very old and not in good shape. I did have a partial view of the castle, unfortunately it was also was over the loading dock and there was trucks unloading and beeping while backing up very early in the morning(5am) I tried to change rooms but they were sold out,no rooms were available at all in the resort. The CL actually closed a couple of hours at different hours of during the day and you couldn't even get a beverage. They didn't seem to replenish their offerings very often. Every night when I came back from the parks I would try and get a glass of wine and the bottles were empty. One night when I stopped by to try and get a glass of wine and all the bottles were empty I saw a CM and she told me she was going to get some more wine so I waited for her to bring back the wine and she when she came back she told me I would need to come back in an hour when the CL reopened. She had just told me she was bringing back the wine. Needless to say I was not very happy,I went down to the front desk and complained and the manager said he would have a bottle of wine delivered to my room. There was one great CM in CL unfortunately I didn't see him earlier but when I saw him on my way back to my room and told him about the problem he told me I should have talked to him he would have taken care of me.The worst was yet to come, on my last night at about midnight someone was pounding on my door.
I am a female traveling alone,so of course I am scared to death and I called the front desk and asked them to send up security because someone was pounding on my door and I am not expecting anyone. She asks me if I looked out the peep hole to see who it was? I told her since I am not expecting anyone I definetely was not looking out the peephole. She told me to just go to sleep since I wasn't expecting anyone they probably had the wrong room. So for almost $400.00 a night you can't count on getting security to check on who might be pounding on your door at midnight.Well this is just my opinion. I have stayed Poly CL and it was great, but I think any thing at the Poly is great. I also have stayed AKL CL and I think it is the best deal at WDW for $335.00 rack rate you can stay CL and have great food offerings and access to all the great safaris and great CM's to help plan your trip. This is just my opinion, good luck deciding!!!!!!:)
