Wow - this is a tough one. We've stayed at Poly many times and WL three times. Our most recent Poly CL stay was January of this year and our most recent WL CL stay was last month. So as you can see, we love them both! But for a July 4th stay, I'd go with WL. I think the deciding factor is the quiet pool construction at Poly. We've stayed at Poly twice during construction and it was fine for both stays and for our purposes (one was a short stay, the other was to run the marathon in January.) But for this summer, with all the construction right next to the Hawaii building, I'd go with WL.
Based on club level alone, I prefer WL. The CMs are great - friendly but not intrusive and just very comfortable. When they say, "let us know if you need anything," they really mean it! We love how the lounge area is spread out around the lobby - it just feels less crowded than other CLs as a result. The view of Bay Lake from the lounge is wonderful. It's a true retreat from the parks. The breakfast at WL is comparable to the breakfast at Poly, but the evening appetizers were far better (in our opinion) at WL. It was difficult to eat anything for dinner after the WL appetizers - so many, great variety and good quality. And of course, we like the price.
We do love Poly CL. Absent construction, staying in Hawaii is really ideal - so close to GCH and so close to the pool. Can't beat the Hawaii building for access to the pool - it's the best room-to-pool proximity on property, in my opinion! The view from the lounge is incredible if you like a theme park view. (I actually prefer the Bay Lake View from WL, but I'm definitely alone in that.) Love the ability to watch the EWP
and the fireworks from the lounge. Because everything is in Hawaii, the rooms are all relatively close to the lounge. The food is very OK, in our opinion. One night last year, they served sushi and ahi tuna - that was my favorite night - but other nights were just OK. Drinks are great - the juice and punch are festive and very yummy. I prefer the Poly theme and location overall. And the rooms are certainly larger.
