Has anyone ever stayed at Fort Wilderness Campground? I am going with my parents and sister in May 2004, and this is the first time we are staying there.. We have a motor home, so that is cool, but is the campground nice? Is there alot of activites there? I'm just looking for some basic facts about the resort. ::MickeyMo OH YEAH! How do I get the count down thingy at the bottom of my post here?? I am a new member. Please help! Thanks! -Mike

Hi Mike - welcome to the Boards!

The campground is great. I stayed there with my parents in a 5th wheel trailer when I was younger & have stayed there with my DH & DD's at a Wilderness Home & most recently Wilderness Cabin. We LOVE it there!! It's Disney's best kept secret!

There are a lot of activities, from renting all kinds of boats, renting bikes, horseback riding, nightly campfire & other activities. It is quiet, relaxing & there is easy access to the MK via the boat.

If your family wants to do a breakfast out one morning try the Trail's End Buffet. It's very good & very reasonable.

Have a great time while you're there. If you love the outdoors, you'll love FW. ::yes::

Head on over to the Technical Board. It has the instructions on how to get the countdown timer!

You will love FW. We were there last July. There is SO much to do and see, that you'll wish you had more time !

Melsmice has pretty well described the advantages of Fort Wilderness. She only got one thing wrong--it's not much of a secret anymore! Try getting ressies there for some of the busier times of the year. We got our ressies one year in advance for our trip which is less than two weeks away. Later I tried to add a few days, and they were all booked up. I had to keep calling every few days for several weeks before I got lucky and happened to call just after someone had cancelled, so we got those extra days. So, if you want to book FW, be sure to call EARLY!

BTW, check out these websites:

Hope this helps, Art

FW is the hidden gem of WDW. So many activities and we always find it so peaceful and relaxing there. You might want to check out the Camping at WDW forum. They are very knowledgeable.
