We are planning on staying in a cabin January 2009. I for the life of me can not find on the map where you can do your laundry. Does anyone out there know where they are and if they are easily accessable?

ALSO

For the experienced Cabin stayers where do you think the best area is to stay? I can see from the map that everything is pretty spread out. My husband think we will want to be near the Hoop De Doo area so we can get to the boat easily. Any ideas?

ALSO

Can you rent bikes there?

THANKS so much!

Megan

I can answer the laundry question, there are washers and dryers at all the bathhouses.

Hi,
I was going to start a new thread but hopefully I will ask here and get some answers. The week I am going the cabins appear to be the only thing available. It's hard to tell from the photos online. Are they cozy? I'm guessing since it's Disney they are clean. How hard is it to go from the camp site to the parks? Are the busses right there? Also the mention of "bathhouses" are there bathrooms in each cabin? I have not been to Ft Wilderness since River country has been shut down. Too long ago to remember how it was all laid out. Any help would be appreciated!

In addition to the laundry facilities at the bathhouses, there is also a good size laundry room by the "quiet" pool which is closer to the cabins.

You can rent bikes.

There aren't any cabins close to the HDD area or the boat. You can either take an internal bus, ride your rented bike or rent a golf cart toget from your cabin to the boat. It is pretty spread out. We always rent a golf cart because it makes it so east to get around...plus DD thinks it's one of the best "rides" at Disney.:confused3

There are nice sized bathrooms in each cabin. Alot of people complain about the transportation, but to me...if you're the kind of person that would be taking the bus from whatever resort you're at to the parks...it's really the same. We always drive our own car...so we just drive to the parks each day. DH cannot ride a bus due to motion sickness.

The cabins are clean and comfortable. They give you room to spread out. We like to hang out on the deck for drinks in the evening...it's very peaceful.

Hey Megan,
We always request a loop (all cabins are grouped as "loops") near to the settlement depot (where Hoop de doo is). This way we could walk and catch the resort transportation without having to do the internal bus system.

Mousekeeping at the cabins is great. not only did they clean the cabin, they would clean out the charcoal from the grill every time we used it. The bathrooms were very clean. The grounds around the cabins were pristine. Remeber its seriously wooded so you will get normal ground dirt and leaves.
We loved the cabins and only stopped going once we became dvc members. we love the extra room the cabins gave us, the full kitchen and we especially loved the peacefullness of the campground. After a long hot day in the parks returning to FT. Wilderness was soothing and a perfect way to end our day.
Try trail ends buffet, food is great at a good price (well good for disney anyway. :rotfl: )

All,
We staying in the Cabins for 6 nights in October, 2007. It was me, DW, DD (3.5) and DD (1.5). My eldest daughter loved the murphy bed and we had the baby in the bedroom with us in a pack and play.

The cabin was clean, quiet, and a nice respite from the parks. We rented a golf cart for the week and it really helped us get around. We didn't have to rely on the internal buses, which meant that our location didn't matter so much.

While we are planning on a monorail resort for our next trip (Dec 08), I think when the girls get a bit older, we will definitely try the cabins again.

Hope this helps.

Peter
