I expect a retort from Bob aka Southern gentleman within the hour! :rotfl:

Cheri
A true southern gentleman doesn't sink to such lowly actions.

I think Denise's idea with the oranment exchange and you try in Linda's idea and try to get one from your state to give. I think that would be cool!! Well that is my idea!!
princess: princess: princess: princess:
Lynn, that is what I was going to suggest (Tiggers think alike).

We all bring an ornament that represents something from our state with a $10 limit on the price.

Good morning Banana Heads

Here's my proposal that hopefully incorporates everything we've mentioned here:

Every family buys one $10ish regional gift (can be a regional ornament) and brings it to the Promenade at 3 p.m. If you brought a gift, you put your name in a "hat", each person pulls from the hat to see which one they take home. People that live in the same area can re-pick (is that a word? :rotfl2: ) if they get similar (e.g. Cheri and Denise, or Kathy and Pat).

Now remember that we're all going to be chatting up a storm and enjoying meeting everyone, so it's going to be a busy time, plus, like Linda pointed out, it's limited due to muster. Therefore, I'm not sure that we'd have time for the white elephant (or whatever you call it in your region!!!).

To support Athene's comment ... NO red-eye gravy, NO turkey privates allowed as "gifts" :lmao:

What do you think? Does it need tweeked?

I'm with you! :thumbsup2

Looks like we just have to decide is if the $10 regional non-yukky-food gift has to be an ornament.

Pat,
our nice cool weather is gone!!! :headache:

It is already sticky out at 7 a.m.
suppose to be upper 80's too. :sunny:

I hope that cold front gets here quickly!!! I love opening up the windows the past few mornings!!!

Hope your foot is better,

kathy

Kathy, Pat, and any other Southerners:

We had snow this morning!! In fact, as I looked out the back window just now, I noticed very limited visibility. Looked llike white smoke, fog, or. . .snow! :sad2:

WOW, a huge "wall" of snow just blew in from the west and it looks like a blizzard!!!! I don't think it'll actually accumulate, but it really looks like a heavy fog has surrounded our house!!!!!!

So any of you who like snow better hurry up and head to Illinois!!!!! I just hope it lets up by the time I have to go to work!!

Have a great day all!

Cheri

OK, sun is out now, but snow is still on the ground -- about a 1/4 inch on the deck.

Looks like more than the "dusting" they originally forecast!

It's way too early for this!

I love the idea of seeing the snow, it is just that "head to Illinois" part that scares me! :lmao:

I LOVE SNOW!!!!!!
We use to live in Bend Oregon at the foot of Mt. Bachelor which is always covered with tons of snow. Several ski resorts there.
we had huge snow drifts a few times taller than me.
When the kids were in school I would go outside and make snowmen and ladies and babies, knit them some clothes for all the neighbors to see!!
Once we had a tall snowman ouside our house when we moved into town and it made the newpaper.
Of course I didnt have to drive in it!!!

OK, Shell I think you have it wrapped up very good. But i have one question??
When we bring the gifts are we suppose to sign a name tag so people will know who it's from or just let them guess by what is inside?? It might be fun to guess. Let me know, it may of been said already but I missed it somewhere along the line.

Ok here is another item with many names, depending on where you are from.
:drinking1

white lightnin
moonshine
rumatiz medicine ( benefit of growing old)
corn squeezins
wonder medicine that cures all.

anybody got any other names for it??

Kathy

Steve,
if you read this before you talk to your mom,
go to www.allseastravel.com

find disney cruises, then click on 7 day.
after that look in the dark blue strip on the right side of the page, way up at the top, it should say Florida resident rates, click there and then scroll down to our date and check it out. The discounts are listed by room categories.

Greg already called DCL and got us the discount for our rooms and they did honor the discounts, they just dont publicize it. The first lady Greg talked to told him NO we dont do that, but he asked to speak to her boss and he said Yes we do offer that rate right now and gave it to us. he appologised for the girl but said she was new and didnt know.
We have done this a couple times now.

Kathy

Good afternoon Banana Heads

Just to clarify, here is the list of NON-givable regional gifts:
1. Red eye gravy (prepared or kit)
2. Turkey T------icles
3. Dead crawfish
4. Spam or other potted meats
5. Scrapple
6. Cleveland Browns anything
7. Rocky Mountain oysters
(Did I miss anything? :lmao: )

Anyone that mistakenly brings vodka must surrender it to me for safe-keeping until the end of the cruise. :rolleyes1

Kathy: I just figured that you'd hold onto your own gift and when your name was picked out of the "hat", you would present it to whomever the picker was!

Thanks Shell,
That makes perfect sense to me.
That in itself should have us worried??

Shell,
you can have the Vodka, but I get dibs on any corn squeezins.

are you bringing the hat to put names in??
are we each responsible for bringing our name to put in?? I would think so.

Everyone,
There are 2 pieces of stationary in the drawer in your room, you can always use a piece of that to make your name if you forget to bring paper.

Kathy

When you folks figure all this crep out....I'll be up on deck 10 (I'll be the one with the red converse high tops and the large margarita in hand). Have a blonde come and wake me up, if ya please (no bimbos, tyvm)

I'm sure one of the guys in this group wears a hat that they'll let us borrow! For that matter, we can probably use the cocktail napkins to put your name on if we have to!!! :rotfl2:

HI all, my boss has been keeping me busy all morning and it took me about 20 minutes to catch up. I agree, bring one get one, I kinda liked the idea of the first person getting a gift and then someone can take it away (if they want). But im not sure that is the way to start out a cruise with a fist fight over dead crawfish. But who am I to say so.... Anywho. What every you guys decide it fine with me. I'll be on my way to being  :banana:drunk by that time anyway. :) (j/k)

Have a great Thursday. I'm loking foward to Grey's Anatomy this evening. Yippeeee......

For the fund. :banana: :banana:

My Nanaheads have been busy today!!!

Last I read this morning, the discussion was about a regional gift to exchange. Count us in. I assume it's one gift per person, not family, right? I'll let Bob and Gitta know, as well.

It's been snowing all day in mid-Michigan!!!!! :sad2: I looked out my doorwall (some of youse may call this slider) this morning, and there was snow on the deck and on the pine trees. Pretty, but not so nice this early in October.

Heading to Columbus Saturday morning. Any OSU fans out there who want to wage a bet for this weekend's game????!!!!

Jeff - What about the upcoming Pitt-WVU game???!!! Too bad they aren't playing on their usual Saturday after Thanksgiving. Watching the Mountaineers running down the field in Pittsburgh or Morgantown while we are out in the ocean would be a great event.

Go Tigers!!! :cheer2: So sorry to hear of the tragic death of the young Yankee pitcher.

Have a great evening all. I will go back and read today's posts later. Heading out to dinner (not supper).

We don't have to specify no LIVE crawfish, do we??? :rotfl: Also no steak tartar, raw (or cooked) oysters, beef heart or tongue!:crazy2:

Also, any of you rum-toting pirate-bananas pirate:  shall bring your treasure to me and I'll watch it for you :drinking1. :teeth: Otherwise you'll walk the plank, mateys! Argh! pirate:

Jan

What's the consensus here? One per family or one per person (adults only)?

I think I'd prefer one per family just to keep things simple. But I'll go along with whatever the majority decides. ;)
