Wild Turkeys and Dancing Banana Heads Cruise 11/25/06

Hello!

Last 9/2005 cruise, while in St. Thomas, we booked Sunny Liston for a day long tour. I emailed him last night to reserve 2 spots with him. I'm on email alerts for low fares from Detroit to Orlando. The November 2006 cruise is feeling like it's becoming a reality.

A couple who were our tablemates in 2004 and us are planning a 9/1/07 cruise on the Magic. Wish I could cruise more often!

Kathy: Enjoy your weekend at WDW. What fun you and DH must have.

Everyone have a great weekend.

Jan

Just curious. Are any of you planning on booking for 2007 if DCL does Mediterranean cruises? DW and I have been talking about it and would love to do a cruise over there. I have also been looking at the RCCL route that goes out of Barcelona. Prices really are not as bad as I thought they might be. However, I also would want to see what the transatlantic route and timeframe looks like.

Like I said, just curious. I am gearing up for November, but thinking summer of '07 as well.

We are surely going to book if they do a Med cruise next summer, its one we have wanted to do for a while now.

I'm starting to think about excursions folks and could use some input. We will have an almost 5yo DS with us and therefore alot of the DCL excursions are out. Also, we are not big 'beach' people - CC will be enough of a beach day probably. DH is a redhead and lying out in the sun is not his cup of tea - think 'lobsterboy'.

I am thinking DS might enjoy the submarine trip (can't remember the name right now) and possibly seeing some sights. Shopping is not important to us. So, as of right now I am thinking we will just be staying on the ship - LOL! But seriously, I think we would like to see the sights but am not sure what to do. Also, when we were in Cozumel DH got sick on a boat when we were deep sea fishing (the big wimp!) so I am thinking a boat cruise is out.

Anyway - any input is appreciated.

My Boss took one of the Subs in Nassau. He said it wasn't worth the money that he spent. He is also in his 50's. So take it with a grain of salt. Dutch might think it was the best thing since sliced bread.

We are beginning to discuss excursions also. For me, the more snorkeling the better. DH feels the same way. DS will be content anywhere.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

WELCOME PAM.

Im glad to see that the money changed your mind as it did mine. We are actually taking another person and it was still less than the Thanksgiving Cruise. But, I wouldn't trade the Thanksgiving Cruise for anything.

Jamie thanks for the list. We are from Springfield, Missouri.

Awwwwwwww  just checking in on some Turkeyday friends.....

Hi Sarah,

When we were in Cozumel we took the kids (then 7 and 5) on one of the Disney excursions that was in a semi-sub? It had glass walls where you could see the marine life and wasn't ever totally submerged. The kids really enjoyed it (think "finding nemo"). Not sure if they offer anything like that on Eastern or not. I haven't even considered excursions yet. Right now, I'm trying to figure out transportation to port and lodging for night before.

Pam - We are in one room. 2056. We have already tossed the coin to see who is on top.

If you have been reading the Turkey Cruise cite, I guess I need to bring the Cheeze Wiz for the snorkeling. I don't want to let Willie down.

Hey this thread IS getting interesting!!! I swear I edited NOTHING!!! :rotfl2:

Hi Tonya..........Lampy :rotfl:

Ron your the expert on outings. What do you suggest for the Eastern Cruisers?

ha ha on top. Unfortunately, it looks like my beautiful step daughter won't be joining us on the Eastern. We have until September to convince her mother that she will be ok skipping a week of school. So if she doesn't get to go with us, I guess we will ask for our old room back. We loved the location and its like HOME to us.

funny story about the bed, DS9 was all excited- it was going to be his!!! DD14 could care less- anyway, he was really worried that first night- remeber how rocky the ship was- was afraid he would roll out, and after that night, they had to alternate!!!

I'm not sure I ever got the whole story abou the cheez whiz- evidently he brought it out in his trunks- but what was the real purpose? (I am sure Lampy would misinterpret that ques.... :rotfl2: )

1) The ship was rocking? Thank goodness, I thought I had too many to drink! :rotfl2:

2) Me misinterpret anything......not while I have Andrew to "straighten it all out"!

We did the Golden Eagle in 03 and it was AWSOME! The front of the catamaran was like a trampoline and the waves kept crashing up....One down side.....being a DCL excursion there is NO DRINKING until you snorkle :confused3 I remember getting off on the island and the captain of the catamaran said "This is St. Maarteen and you "family" folks might not want to go left!" So I did......clothing was optional!! :cool1:
St. Thomas we took the "tram" to the top of the mountain and had lunch the shopped.....7 oz. Heinekin every time DDs purchased something.....buy can they shop! :rotfl2: We should have dome another excursion...all the ports are the same, Nassau, Freeport, Cozumel, GC, Costa Maya, St. Maarteen, St. Thomas......same stuff! We regretted not doing an excursion!

I will only go through DCL excursions next time. I liked Tequila Beach, but from the sounds of things, yor excursion was way cool. Plus, we won't have to worry about whether or not we will get our money back if we end up not going to a certain port.

Last September, we did not book any excursions in St. Maarten. We walked around town with DISers, Andy (Xbearx) and Ginny (Gdulaney), and had way too much fun. In St. Thomas, we booked Sunny Liston and had a fun day. Some shopping, some touring of the island, then Sapphire Beach for a few hours. One word of advice -- don't book the Under Two Flags (or something similar to that) for St. Maarten. It was not good at all. Many other DISers have said the same thing to us. In St. Thomas, we booked the Trunk Bay excursion through DCL. What a beautiful place. We thought about doing that again, but really enjoy spending the day with Sunny.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Jan

Hello Again! We have new cruisers to add to the list of DISers. Bob and Gitta, great friends of ours, will be cruising with us. They called DCL a few hours ago.

Our group is growing very quickly!!!

We stayed at the radisson by the port the night before- they have a great pool (unfortunately we got there late at night). They also have a shuttle to the port the next am

Just re-checking back in to say hello!
We will also be staying at the Radisson the night before the cruise too...either that or Ron Jon's for a change. My DH really liked the area, so we were thinking about getting there Thursday instead of Friday.

As for excursions, we just did our own thing at St. Maarten's too, the kids just loved being at the beach, so we stayed close and just went to Great Bay beach.
St. Thomas we did the Captn Nautica excursion with just me, DH and DS12. It was great fun...but maybe this time we will do the Trunk bay one. Just something with snorkeling, and that goes to St. John....

I am so excited, I cannot believe it is only 10 months away. I remember when it was only 10 months away this time last year, and the rest of the time went by sooo fast! Can't wait to meet everyone. :goodvibes

We stayed at the Radisson also. Hunter got up early and insisted that we go swimming in the "cool" pool. We didn't take the shuttle, we used a Budget car from the airport. We drove to Budget in Coco and they drove us to the Port. We were the only ones on the shuttle over to the Port. It was great.

Hi Everyone! Wow has this thread grown! It will take me an hour to read all this!

I've been very busy and haven't spent much time on the pc. (we just finished a water percussion concerto, very, very cool!)

Anyway, what have I missed that I need to do right a way? Is someone taking names, ect and has a meet already been arranged? bTW, does anyone have a count until our sail date?

I am looking for a good diet. I would say that I am 25 pounds overweight. Anyone have any success stories to share?

Well, I'll catch up on my reading!
