Wii... getting the extra controllers to work?

I have 2 extras but don't know how to get them 2 work. No instructions. I do see a "sync" button. Any ideas to help? Thanks!

I haven't been able to find the extra remotes yet but when I set my original remote up last weekend, I had to sync by hitting the button (by opening the cover) on the front of the console and by hitting the button under the batteries cover too.
