Wii disc error?

Has anyone with a wii ever received an error message stating there was an error reading the disc and they should eject the disc, restart the unit, and refer to the wii manual?

we bought our wii 2 weeks ago at best buy.

I got the error message twice last nite while trying to start 2 different discs (inserting them the right way). first with mario kart, then with wii sports. called nintendo, and nintendo emailed me a prepaid label to mail the unit back for repair, but if this is not a big deal I'd prefer to just keep the unit than go through the hassle of sending it for repair.

we had the unit vertical, so I changed it to horizontal in case that was a problem.

any help is appreciated!

This happened to us once. And if I remember, I could pop the disc out but couldn't get the thing to turn off. So I did what I do with my computer - I unplugged it. Waited a few seconds and plugged it back in. Haven't had a problem since.

that is exactly what happened to me! I could not shut it off either so I unplugged it. then it worked fine.

can I ask, how long has it been since you had that error?

Several weeks. And we use the Wii every day. I do my Wii Fit body test daily and I think I was up to 40-something straight days. I think the error ocurred either early in the 40-something day period or shortly before.

Usually for us means it's too hot. If we can get the game out. Unplug and then wait. Plug back in usually works.
One time had to send it in because a disc wouldn't eject. And we got it back super fast.
So if you decide to send it in = it is pretty painless.

No. Don't have Wii Ski. Sorry! I am hoping to get the new Jillian Michael's workout game soon which needs to be synched to the board too. I'll have to see how that works when the time comes.
