As opposed to scrambling around to find WiFi hotspots, What I have done is gotten a WiFi hotspot device called SkyRoam, (I in no way am hawking or work for the company I promise I just love it), you can pick up the device on
Amazon for about $99 and then buy packs of Day Passes for $40 for 5, which comes out to $8 per day, this ONLY WORK in port, where you have a Cellular Signal, not out at sea. It supports over 150 countries, and once activated you get 24 HOURS of unlimited data on up to 5 devices at the same time. it works great for email, surfing the web, logging into secure websites, and also supports skype and iTalk phone apps. I used it on the recent Westbound Panama Canal Cruise and had no problems with it connecting in Cozumel, Cartagena, Columbia, through the entire Panama Canal, and in Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Varallata. We also went on a short 5 night trip out of Miami to Grand Cayman and
Castaway Cay and back to Miami, it worked in Grand Cayman while moored in the harbor since it's a tender port. If you happen to travel from one port to the next with in the 24 hour time frame (from when you activate it) you can keep using it, I got use out of it while we were in Cartagena and then the next morning was using it while we locked through the Panama Canal Atlantic side on the same day pass... This is just an option I'd like to throw out for those that cruise or travel alot. It's rechargable and portable, it fits into your pocket or backpack and still functions just fine.
