We are heading down to OKW this weekend for a week stay. Wondering how good the WiFi is? Considering taking the airport express with in case the WiFi is no good. Is there still an Ethernet connection in the rooms? Thanks!

As far as I know, the wired internet has been disconnected everywhere. I tried with a router in late April at BWV and it did not work. The wifi there wasn't bad most of the time.

When we were there in Feb it just sucked. Hope it's better by now.

It was OK when I was there in May. Slower at normally busy times, but usable. I was in Bldg 20.

WiFi in our villa was better than we have previously experienced. We were in building 25 last week.

I was in building 35 at Old Key West  in April and the WiFi connection was great :woohoo: I had no problems at all and it was terrific having access to the internet :yay:

We were in building 55 last week - had problems at first, but after a call and a reboot of the router, it was much better.

Jenny:)

At OKW building 64, WiFi is very good. Glad it is working good since TS Debby is making it a very rainy Sunday!

I'll just chime in and say in Building 36 the connection was pretty good in April as well. So OKW reports all sound pretty positive.

I experienced good WiFi connections at times (to the SSID) and poor at other times, sitting in EXACTLY the same place in my villa (couch in a one BR).

Simply having a good connection to the access point isn't enough. Connection to the WiFi being aside, the system throughput sucks. There simply isn't any other way to put it. At best, it's barely usable and at other times, not usable at all.

Disney needs to wake up and smell the coffee. The days of isolating guests at WDW COMPLETELY with complete isolation from the outside world has come and gone. Many of us simply cannot afford to be out of touch when we are on vacation. There's no need in starting that argument all over again. It's true for some of us, whether others recognize it or not.

Most major hotel chains now have pretty decent WiFi. Disney needs to belly-up-to-the-bar and get it right to retain business owners (read:$$$) and business travelers on vacation with their families.

Part of the problem here is Disney's lacktidasical (sp?) attitude lately about just giving jobs to outside firms and laying the blame on them. They get what they pay for, just like you and me. And before you say "They'll just add it to the cost of the room for those of us that don't need it.", get over it. They ALREADY have, whether you believe it or not, and my bet would be that built-in internet access charge is paying for top-drawer service and performance and it simply isn't there.

Yes. Before you say it, I have my own internet access when I travel. I have to, but I shouldn't have to. That's my point. If Disney isn't going to provide tower support to major providers like AT&T on-property, they have to provide the service themselves. I get acceptable cell service in every major metropolitan area in the country except WDW. If that isn't a major metropolitan area, granted with a revolving population, I don't know what is.

They can't provide cell service (not easily, anyway) but they can provide basic internet connectivity. They charge for it and we hence, pay for it. Expecting it to be right shouldn't be too much.

We were in building 45 in May and it was VERY VERY VERY slow. I didn't use it as we have completely unlimited with a mobile verizon card (grandfathered in policy) so we used that... but our daughters used the wifi and they were not too happy with it.
