Wife's 30th birthday at Disneyland - How can I make it special?

Since your staying on site, the hotel has character pictures that they get signed by the character. For my daughters birthday I asked if they could possibly give her one and she recieved a black and white 8 x 10 picture of peter pan, hook and wendy all signed and everything. If you tell them in advance (before u arrive) you can tell them her fav character and they may be able to have it waiting in the room for her. I was able to have that done 2 yrs ago when we stayed at the dlh.

Was the autographed picture free, or did you have to pay for this? Would love to get this done for my daughter's b-day. Did you ask at the hotel when you arrived, or on the phone when you made your reservation?

You can get a cake delivered to any sit down restaurant in the park. Here are a few pics we have done.

The pics are free, we have never asked, they were waiting when we checked in and one time they delivered to our room...it was a surprize.

I'm looking for something extraordinary, even if it cost good $$$.

In addition to the very good suggestions above, you might also want to do a Premium VIP Tour. It's expensive (I believe it's $275-$295 per hour plus tip, minimum 6 hours, up to 10 people), but everyone will feel like a celebrity!

On a Premium VIP Tour, you get a VIP tour guide that becomes your FP to all the FP attractions, and provides expedited entry to non-FP attractions. They will assist with dinning reservations as well as booking VIP viewing at select shows and parades. They will stay with your kids if they don't want to participate on an attraction, but the adults want to. The guides are fun and very knowledgeable about the DLR. If you have any special requests, they will try to make them happen.

Your whole family will feel very special.

It is free and I've done it both ways. The first time a DLH I asked over the phone before we got there and this time at PPH I asked while we were there.

I am seriously contemplating this, but the biggest issue for me is price. It's REALLY expensive. If it was mid-summer and crowded, I would do it no problem, but on a Thursday on an off-day, how bad will the lines really get? And the only show playing on her birthday is World of Color, which is great, but we've seen it before with a good view... so I just question the money for the value, you know?

I don't know... it's a tough call. Have you done this Premium VIP Tour before?

I have done VIP tours a few times. *To me* it is absolutely worth it. Your guide will direct you on things to do, will make sure you get everything completed, can get you VIP areas for shows (WoC, Aladdin, parades, etc..) They can also get you into Club 33 if space is available....

Who do I call to have this done?

I think it is really sweet that you are doing this for her. I would absolutely love it if my husband took the initiative to do something like this for me. So sweet.

At any rate, I noticed you said that your wife would want your children included in the celebration--I am the same way and brought our children to Disneyland when we celebrated our tenth anniversary two years ago. I scheduled a Disneyland tour (not the VIP tour) and it was so much fun for our entire family. One of the best parts of doing it in the off-season is that we ended up being the only family on the tour (even though it wasn't meant to be a private tour). It was a treasure hunt through Disneyland and we had SO much fun! One of my favorite memories at Disneyland, for sure!

Silhouettes are something I have done of our children on every trip, but the tour was a special treat done just for our anniversary and I am so glad we did it. (I recommend doing both if you've never had the silhouettes done before.)

We've done the Premium VIP Tour several times, and even though it's usually only my DW and me (we don't have any kids), we've really enjoyed the attention. It is a tough call because of the expense, but for us, it is definitely worth it.

We usually arrange the tours during the busy seasons, or if we're entertaining family and friends at the DLR. We will actually be visiting the parks those same few days as you, and I've heard there is a cheering competition going on that weekend. Not sure if that will affect the crowds on the 28th, but you never know.

And, as @Malcon10t said, there is a slim chance you may be able to get into Club 33 if there is a table available.
