Wierd thing that always happens in WDW

I have ten-month old twins. If you ever want to feel like a travelling freak show, walk around with twins. Strangers walk up to us all the time and ask questions, some of them quite strange (yes, there were fertility drugs involved, I usually say) but most people are very nice. Still, it's strange to go out places and have strangers approach you for no reason other than the fact that you have two babies of the same age in a stroller.QUOTE]

I know what you mean! My DD is from China. For awhile I swear I was a TARGET for every fool on the planet. People say the DUMBEST things!!!!!!! I even had some older man INSIST she was from Vietnam:confused3. And sometimes people don't THINK about what they say and how it can hurt someone.:guilty: Strangers ask "oh you couldn't have a child of your own?", (NEWSFLASH! She IS mine!) Did her REAL parents not want her? (how am I not "real"?:confused3 ) And when you try to stop them they don't GET it! And they would say it right in front of her! Oh I could go on..........

I understand what you mean when strangers approach you. Some days I feel like an "attraction". Never mind the Mouse ..... "Look it is an adoptive family lets go ask them stupid questions". Sometimes I JUST want to be a mom in the park with my child.

That would make me mad too but at least your child IS adopted my younges DS has WHITE blond hair, pale skin, and pale blue eyes. I am a medium-dark brunette with dark blue eyes and my DH is Olive complected with black hair and dark brown eyes. We are asked quite often if our youngest is adopted. When we tell them no they usyally ask if we are sure or if he is the MILKMAN"S! HELLO! HOW RUDE! For real I don't know how we made him but somehow our gentics blended into Colin. I CANNOT believe the audacity of people! Oh, and they have said things like this in front of my other children. My oldest son is SO funny he told one guy that he was really rude. Then he said that his brother looks the way that he does b/c I wasn't supposed to be able to have anymore babies ( I really wasn't) and that he prayed SO hard for a baby brother that God gave him one. And don't miracles always look special? It really shut the guy up in a hurry. LOL!
I wish that I couls post a pic of our family on herebut I don't know how...
Oh, and we have 3 chinese cousins ages 6,6, and 9. They are our REAL cousins and you are her REAL mom. Don't listen to the haters. My DH aunt's ant uncle's always think that it is so cute when the girls are all in a tickle pile because of black and dark blonde hair mixed together. Our lives would truly not be complete without those 3 girls. We so need to get a pic taken of all 5 girls together this spring outside....

Sorry, I have been that person  I will often say Congratulations to families who seem to be obviously adoptive families. For what it's worth, I think I notice it more since that is what we plan to do in a few years. I will NOT go through all those treatments again.

Just to clarify-I will speak about adoption to someone who is considering it for HOURS! I will give any advice I can and help direct as best I can. I have NO problem with that. Saying "congrats" is way different that just treating my family like an attraction. IF people approach in a nice way and ask a polite, non nosy question-I will say "why do you ask?" If it because you are considering adoption, I will be your new best friend ;). If someone just wants to ask questions, just to ask....... I have seen people who look and look again and then just smile (I swear we should have an secret handshake LOL)

The "funny" thing with my DD is my entire extended family INSIST she looks like me when I was younger:cool1:

I have to share -- someone today walked up to the kids and I in a restaurant to comment how beautiful they were and how she just how to come and see them up close:3dglasses

Thank you, it is "normal" for us to. I will admit...... it IS fun to completly confuse people when we go out with a friend of ours. When we go out we have 2 asian exchange students, 2 blonde teenagers, 2 couples and 3 asian children. AND 2 of the asian children look VERY much alike, but are not related. And 2 of the asian children ARE related. 2 of the asian children are from the same place LOL Boy the LOOKS we get!

I have identical twins...they're 11.5 years old now. Like the others with twins, when they were infants and toddlers we'd get stopped a dozen times each trip to the grocery! Of course the fact that we lived next to a retirement community and did most of our shopping in their town, well, all those grandmas who never get to see their own grands were just itching to hold mine!

Even now they garner a LOT of attention.....but then again I know they bring that on themselves because they still dress identical (except sometimes a different hair tie or socks, lol).

The question I hated most was "are they identical" and when I'd answer yes (they're actually mono-amniotic so they're VERY identical) some wise guy would always start pointing out every difference....well, yes, Jessica is a bit shorter and skinnier, maybe because they were born 11 weeks early because she was failing to thrive because of the knot their umbilical cords had made! But just because she's 5 pounds lighter and about 1/2" shorter doesn't negate they are identical. My husband's favorite come back line for that was "if you're so smart you know more than we do why did you bother to ask!".

The second most hated question (2nd only because it happened less often, but still annoying)....was the fertility question. No, we didn't. And besides, identicals aren't caused by fertility. My husband though, ever the comedian, once offered to explain exactly how they were conceived to a couple who insisted that identical twins only came through fertility treatments! They were shocked and had the nerve to tell US we were rude.

I haven't had someone ask to pose with the girls before, but I have many times felt that the camera was being aimed at them. Doesn't bother me because I have plenty of pictures of other people's kids in my photos, and to tell the truth, I've taken a few photos of someone else's kid....though all I'm really after is the cute outfit, not the kid, lol. I'm a copycat for clothing (oooo, confession is good for the soul).

I guess after their super early birth and the sad things I've witnessed rude people say about my dear friends' handicapped child, I guess I'm glad they want to take their photo and compliment my girls on their beauty. I'll take that over someone laughing or pointing or being rude about things that the child can no more help than they can resolve.

My girls on the other hand often get tired of people pointing and commenting like they're an attraction at the zoo. They'd rather people come up and ask them if they're twins and the silly questions "do you think the same thoughts" "if you fall down does she get hurt too". LOL...ya gotta take it in stride.

Never thought about how annoying the twin factor could be!

I'm glad I'm not alone in the admiration of my children ;)

OMG! This happened to us in Nov 2001. My DH had left me and our DDs (2 and 3 years old) in front of the castle. We were all wearing red and the girls were in a blue stroller. A man from India asked to take our picture. I said okay, and then, from out of nowhere about 10 Indian men crowded around us to get in the picture too! I was totally freaked about it the rest of the trip. (I wonder how awful that picture turned out!) My DH just didn't understand...
