While going to DTD, we got into a great discussion w/our bus driver, Dave, on Bus 2749. We asked him if the stories about the haunted bus were true. He said that there was a bus, number 2713 that had mystery passengers. He told us that it was always late at night and a driver would stop at the last bus stop. He'd see a person (sometimes a man, a woman or a child) in the back and tell them "Last stop, or do you need another hotel?" and the person wouldn't answer. So the driver would stop at the last stop and go to the back of the bus, figuring the passenger was asleep. When the driver got back there, there wasn't anyone. Thinking that the person might have snuck behind a seat, the driver would do a thorough check and come up empty. Dave said it happened to several drivers. Edited to add that Dave told us they changed the number on the bus and revamped it. He didn't know the new number.

Dave also told us that he used to work in the Emporium. He'd send a CM downstairs to get more supplies and, every so often, the CM would come up empty handed and say "I'm never going back down there" stating they had seen (as Dave put it) "what belongs in the HM". Even Dave told us he had a few encounters. He also told us the utilidors were the same way ... you could get lost in them easily and people had seen wierd things going on.

Dave also told us about a wall in the Emporium. They wanted to expand the Emporium, so they took down a wall. Behind the wall was a storage area that contained an original Disney train set and a whole bunch of original Disney stuffed Mickey Mouse dolls and other MM items. He said the storage area had never been cleared out ... just boarded up. He said, in all, they must have found at least 40 pieces of merchandise. Can you even imagine?!

The final story (the wierdest of them all) was something that happened right after 9/11. He told us that security was going over the MK w/a fine tooth comb. Well, in the rose garden near the Castle, some men were going over the area w/a metal detector. The detector went off and they decided to dig. Once they got to the metal, they found a metal box. Inside that metal box was an urn w/ashes. Someone buried a loved ones ashes in the rose garden!!! They were trying to figure out how this could be done w/all the security cameras and such. They figured it had to have happened during the 3rd shift. To this day, they don't know who the ashes belong to or who did the burying. We asked him what they did w/the ashes and he said that for a long time, there was talk about what to do w/them. He said that he didn't know if any decisions were made.

Thought I'd share that little bit of info. w/you guys!

Thanks alot Daxx!!! *looks behind curtains* Of course I'm reading this at 1:00am and that doesn't help!! LOL *checks under the bed* :scared1:

Somebody apparently needs to show those "guests" the way to Liberty Square and into our humble abode at the HM!!! Remember theres room for 1000!!

Cool stories! Thanks for sharing! I'd love to have Dave for a driver - he sounds like a lot of fun!

Of course, now I'm thinking about those ashes - who were they? how did they get there? what did they do with them? maybe they should sell spots at the parks for Disneyaholics to have their ashes placed?

Can you imagine the ads:

- Buy a spot in the Magic Kingdom for your loved one.
- Have your ashes sprinkled in Bay Lake.
- Visit your loved ones while you visit the World.

Seeing as they didn't know who the ashes belonged to, I hope they re-buried them, or sprinkled them in the lake. It would just seem wrong to dispose of them... :(

yeah really what would they do put them in the trash or something. How could you live with yourself if you had to do it. I for one wouldnt be able to.

Haven't enjoyed a post as much in a long time!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

A few years ago, a teenage girl (?) was killed in the HM. She was jumping from one Doom Buggie to another in order to scare her friends. She slipped and fell underneath the vehicle and was dragged to death.

I have never heard whether anything unusual had ever been seen or reported in the HM, but heck, who would notice?

Well, who knows if the stories are true, but some of the folks I work with used to work in the parks and had a few stories to tell.

Some girls worked at BTMRR and said they had seen a male figure on the tracks via the monitors as they were closing but there were no maintenance or security people there, all the ride ops were accounted for and when the person walking the tracks went to where they saw the figure there wasn't anyone there. Not sure if I believe that one but it is an interesting story.

The other story is about ToT. Apparently, one of the original CMs was an older man who went into cardiac arrest and subsequently passed away. It is said that his spirit hangs out at ToT and if the CMs don't greet him properly in the morning, he'll cause problems in one of the elevator shafts. Also, they say that b/c there are so many antiques in the lobby and libraries there are a lot of spirits associated with them who make themselves known from time to time. Again, who knows if it is true but definitely a cool story.

OK, so as I am typing this it seems a little wierd to me but I actually spoke with my children about that very topic. I do not currently have a plot for burial.

I mentioned to them if they thought it would be doable if I were to earmark some money in my will to cover a group trip to WDW (less me, of course, kinda). Have my body cremated and the ashes distributed in small packets that could be carried in by my family members and randomly scattered throughout the park. They, of course, immediately looked at me like I had just cut my head off and was holding it in my hand.

I don't think they felt that the combinations of WDW and ashes was desirable. Oh well, good try! We all have to end up someplace and I can't think of a place I would rather be.

PS. They all thought the idea of my leaving a bunch of money earmarked for a trip to WDW "in memory of me" was a great idea. I told them that if they thought, for a minute, that I was going to sit up north in a cold urn while they partied, with my money, in sunny Florida they were missing some vital brain cells.

Wow - what an interesting thread you started. I'm hoping others have more stories!

I had never about the girl on the HM. How sad. :(

True story. Her head got stuck under the ride vehicle.

I heard the story about the cranky CM who interferes with things if CM's don't greet him but the ride was the pirates of the Caribbean. There was a website of ghost stories and that one was on it. Also they report seeing a lone male figure walking towards the castle who disappears *Walt???*

Too funny! I love it. And wouldn't the idea of mortality become less dreadful to deal with if we had that to look forward to? It got me thinking. Disney has the town of Celebration, so why not build a Disney cemetary! Couldn't you see all of us obsessed Disneyaholics agonizing over which character would grace our tombstone, which "land" we would be buried in... think of the possibilities. ;)

Loved your post, goofyernmost!

Gooferynmost I also asked my family to "sprinkle" me around the lake from the WL- MK
Believe it or not they said that was fine . I told them to take me in 2 big gallon size Ziplocks and get on the ferry and then just dump me over the side of the boat:D
Figure I minds well be in my "Happy Place"

Ok, my cousin was cleaning her mantle one day and accidentaly knoced off the box that had a portion of my uncle (her grandfathers) ashes in them and broke it.

Most of his ashes had been dispersed out to sea, but everyone got a small box with some ashes in them, too (siblings, grandkids, kids).

Anyways, these boxes were sealed..so you couldn't just open it. Well, with no idea what to do with the ashes, there was no way anyone could just dispose of them. They came up with an idea...bring them to WDW. So, whenever you go onto POC, and you are at the end, where the dog has the keys w/everyone in jail...say hi to my Uncle Chuck!!! They kept this to themselves for a little bit, as they didn't want to upset anyone..but that was his favorite place in the world!!pirate:

Oh man, you gotta love that. I can't wait until my next visit. I'll be sure to give him your best wishes.

:teleport:

goofyernmost I asked for almost the same thing! I said that I wanted my ashes to be distributed in WDW. I don't care where or when (if they want to wait a year or something) but that I wanted my final resting place to be at Disney World. I like the trip idea, I will tell them that also.

Great thread, keep the stories coming.

Just curious from reading the all the Disney Urban Legends, aren't more the deaths associated with Disneyland? The major one I remember reading about was the 4 year old little girl on Body Wars. But apparently it wasn't the acutal ride that killed her. She had some kind of heart disorder that the parents didn't even know about. Let me know if I'm wrong.

This happened about 8 years ago on Body Wars in WDW. The only reason I remember it so vividly was because we had just left WDW a few days prior to it happening. My twin DD's were 4 years old at the time & I thought about how many times we had ridden Body Wars because all my DD's loved it so much.

I do remember them saying she had a prior heart condition that was never detected. Very sad. :(

:( I hope you have a good time in Disney *Sooner Girl*.

I was reading some of the stories on doombuggies.com last night and there was a story about a guy dying while riding it....The story was that the guy got out of his doombuggy in the seance room, where madame leota is, and was trying to get something on the table where her head is, and he fell 15 feet breaking his neck. Apparently between the track and the platform thing that the leota head and table are is a big gap with a 15 foot fall in the middle, not sure of the validity of this story. There is also a book out you can check out more hm stories from former cms and other stories.
