Everything I've read as well as the things people who have already seen the movie have said, it's based on the Broadway Musical.

It is based on the musical and pulls some extra scenes from the book to pad it out to a two-part movie. Wikipedia has a list if you are interested.

If it were based on the book, it would not be rated PG.

Saw it Monday. It was so good! Could have cut some parts out to make it shorter. Grande was the best part of the movie by far.

I had recorded the special "Defying Gravity, the curtain raises on Wicked" Tuesday night and watched it yesterday. It made me want to see it even more. I can't wait until tomorrow. The snowstorm is supposed to miss my area, and they better be right. I have my Wicked shirt and my nails are painted pink and green, lol.

My reels of late on Facebook have all been Wicked related. It's really making me want to go see it. I saw one last night with four different Broadway Glinda's taking turns singing Popular and it's all I can hear in my head!

Just got home from seeing it, and I loved it. It was 'wickedly awesome.' Due to the weather, there were only 16 people in the theater, and 15 of them were female, lol.

I was pleasantly surprised by Ariana Grande. Her voice was amazing, and she's a decent actress. Cynthia Erivo was the perfect wicked witch and her voice is something else.

A few of the people didn't know that it was only part 1 and were a little confused when it ended. I knew ahead of time so I expected it
Just bought tickets to see it again on Tuesday.

We just got home from seeing it. I loved it. Ariana Grande was great! Cynthia Erivo was also great, but I think everyone expected that. My daughter did not like the visuals but loved the singing and acting.

I saw a TikTok that said when the judgey theater kids walk away impressed you know it was good. My son confirms. He has been a Wicked fan since he was little and Arianna is his favorite singer so he's been hyped since it was announced. They all loved it.

There was no one singing in our theater which was sold out.

I think both watching a movie quietly and experiencing a movie as a group participation thing (think Rocky Horror) are valid experiences...as long as you go in knowing what to expect. So I think theaters should just clearly mark certain showings as sing-alongs and the rest as quiet.

I’m going to see it this afternoon with two friends and can’t wait! I’ve watched previews and backstory on the casting, and saw Wicked on Broadway years ago. Seems as though the leads were perfectly cast and I love that they seem to genuinely like and support one another.

Edit: we all loved the movie! There was a special treat with Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel in the Emerald City, and the ending gave me goosebumps.

Absolutely loved it! They did the live musical justice. Looking forward to part 2 next year.

Both my daughter and I loved it. I wasn't sure how I was going to like it, but really, it is one I definitely recommend.
