is the man usually a few years older in a relationship ?

you think it would be the other way around since men die first ( I know Im generalizing on everything I just said :rotfl:)

Women have to date older men cause the ones of their own age are too immature.

Least, that's what my sister used to tell me.

I remember having a conversation w/ my math teacher in high school and she said men are more immature than women, therefore, an older man, while older in years, is actually younger in maturity.

My husband is 7 years older than me.
Yet still more immature. :p

I agree with your sis, but once you get older you think that would even up

I guess I will be the first to be the opposite, I am older than DH by about 17 months, so not quite a year and a half. We've been married almost 21 years!

The funny thing is my brother married a girl who is older than him by a year and a couple months and they are going on 27 years this summer, and my oldest DD just got engaged and her fiance is younger than her by a year and a half too. Guess it works in our family :thumbsup2

I'm 2 1/2 months older than DH......married for 37 years in June :p

DDIL is a 1 1/2 years older than DS.

Winner winner, chicken dinner.

I actually married a guy who was 3 years younger then me, thought I could "mold " him lol. um nope. everyone else were older then I was and I have gone back to that method.

I knew I wanted to fall in love with a man who was older than me. I'm an old fashioned romantic, and I like the idea of him being my rock. In my mind, that takes an older man. My older DH is only 2 years older than me, but it works for us. I use to run from younger men. They were boys to me if they weren't AT LEAST my age.

Because younger women are more attractive and fertile so having one by your side allows an older man to maintain a piece of youth. And then once the wife hits 35, the man may decide to trade her in for a newer model.

I am 2 years older than my husband, and when I was dating, often dated a guy 2 to 5 years younger than I was, once I was out of high school and undergrad, that is.

I look younger than he does, however.

When I was a teenager I'd never consider going out with a younger man. Now I'm in my mid-40s and I've been married to a man 5 years younger than me for 12 years.

He's still a great deal more mature than I am though! :confused3

I always assumed that the older the guy, the better (as far as maturity) and then I met my husband and the assumption did not hold true:rolleyes1

I was always mature for my age and I wanted an older man to mesh with. The younger guys were just too self absorbed and too involved in gaming and the likes for me. I needed someone to balance me. I was young, in med school and still had years of learning ahead of me:headache:.

I needed someone I could relate to, not come home to and tend to them like I would a child:rolleyes1. Funny thing is as I got older I learned that age does not make one mature or a better catch;)

May- December romances are not always what they seem:)

For some of you who made it work congratulations:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Well, I followed that tradition, by just a little bit: DH is three months older than me.
BUT, that was breaking the mold in my family. All three of my sisters, my mother, and my grandmother married younger men. They make fun of ME!
Oh, and DH has always been more mature than me.

It surely is a reflection of our legacy, male-dominated society. An artifact of the past, one which has no value in today's world.

DW is 10 years older. Happily married 18 years this year. ;)

Congratulations to both of you.

5 days shy of 2 months older than DW and 38 years next week.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

BTW, we first met in first grade, 1956. Boy, that's a long time ago.
