Why would my eyeballs hurt?

seriously are you people waiting for blood to come out of your eyes before you call a Dr.? I will never understand why people come on here asking for medical advice. :confused3

Hmmm....maybe because I don't have a fever, and otherwise feel pretty good. I don't know about your doctor, but mine has such a CYA attitude that all they will tell you to do is come on in. Then they will see you don't have a fever and your eyes LOOK fine to them, no high blood pressure, pulse normal, and they will tell you you have a virus(which usually means they don't know what's wrong). I figured I am more likely to find someone here who has real ideas of what something like this might be.

Sheesh---if I had chest pain or couldn't see or if my symptoms were more sinister, I wouldn't CALL a doctor; I would go to the ER. Besides, if you don't like to read these types of threads, don't open them up. I will never understand why people come on threads like this if they are so annoying to them.....:confused3

I started a thread like this recently (eyeball related, as well, coincidentally), and also noted the extent to which some folks would go to try to brow-beat me into doing things that, being that I was actually living in the body in question, I knew were over-reactions. I suppose there are a lot of people who are naturally over-reactors out there, but I suspect there are also a lot of people who are as likely to trust themselves to some extent, even while asking advice, but still not react well when others ask them for advice which is subsequently tempered by the inquirer's own trust for themselves. (In my case, actually, some folks were seeking to trump not only my own discretion, but also that of my doctors'... yipes!)

I'd take it all in stride. You know that you know more about how you're actually feeling than any of the rest of us. And you know that whatever you do, or not do, is your own responsibility. I politely responded to a few with a, "Thanks for the concern," and then ignored further disrespect.

Best wishes, Marsha.

I know I already said this, but the flu is rampant in southern states, AND about 50 percent of non-hospitalized cases do not have a fever. If it is the flu, it sounds like you have a mild case, and your doctor won't do anything anyway, but you might need to be extra careful about being around others (and it sounds like your son might need to do that as well). Of course, if your eyes don't improve, you need to get them checked out.

Hope you feel better soon!

hmm....dont' recall stating I didn't like them, I am just amazed that people will ask total strangers medical advice....pain in your eye's can be a serious thing, and if MY eye's were painful, I would call my EYE Dr. There are so many things, potentially serious, that can be diagnosed through the eyes. Don't have to have a fever to be diagnosed with any of them, such as cancer, etc. Since I have had a few family members diagnosed with a serious disease that very way, I find it hard to grasp that no one else would take eye care seriously.

That is all. Carry on. :)

Did you see my neighbor outside with a bikini on too? I know it made our eyes hurt. :lmao:

I think practically everyone who does is simply supplementing what they would do otherwise with drawing on additional resources that social networking affords them. One of the best advantages, I feel, is that it provides you more insight into the kinds of questions, questions that perhaps you should be asking yourself, but especially questions you should be asking your doctor. That was the greatest advantage I derived from the thread I referred to earlier; being driven to ask questions that I, myself, did not know to ask.

Well, we found out today, we have at least one case of H1N1 in our classroom. The little girl was there on Monday and developed a headache and fever around 10am. She went home and came back yesterday. Seemed fine, felt fine. Then her mother told the office this morning that she(mother) had a confirmed case of H1N1. The younger sibling went home today sick and mom took both kids at that time. She called back to confirm that the youngest had H1N1(went to dr.) and they are assuming that the child in our class did as well. We had two kids out today and have no idea why they were out.

I truly don't feel that I feel/felt bad enough that this was the flu. I have headaches every day, and that was the same. Other than my eyes hurting and my stomach being upset one morning and a little achy today, I feel normal. Nonetheless, it is in my school and classroom, ugh.

We have been extra careful since school started. We squirt the kids with sanitizer before they enter the class and before morning snack and observe handwashing before lunch and when we see a child cough or sneeze. We are washing tables down with clorox in the mornings and spraying Lysol on the materials before we leave each afternoon.

Thanks for the advice. Believe me, if it was stabbing pain or I had visual disturbances, I would already have called the dr. If it continues, I will call tomorrow and mention that was have H1N1 in our classroom. Maybe they will test me.

I live in Middle Tennessee, and there are a lot of cases here. Our pediatrician told us that they have had some people complaining that their allergies were messed up, and then they tested positive for the flu. The symptoms can be that mild, or they can make you feel horrible.

As long as you don't take a turn for the worse, you probably don't need to be tested. The rapid flu test is very unreliable. It gives a false negative 40-50% of the time with H1N1. My daughter tested negative recently, but her pediatrician really thinks she had it. Regardless of the test, the treatment is the same: lots of fluid, rest, treat symptoms with Ibuprofen, and call the Dr. if symptoms worsen.

I truly hope you feel better soon! I have a feeling we will be dealing with a lot of this for the next few months, but I pray it stays relatively mild!

My dd had the swine flu in June and I believe I had it the week before her. She had fever, I didn't. I had a new symptom every day, lol. The first day was a bad sore throat, the next day was headache, then fatigue and finally a cough. I was never sick enough to go to the Dr and the day after I felt better, my dd came down with a fever. She was sick for 3 days but had to stay out of school for 7 days.
