Why wasn't I offered Comeback Rate??

I'm hoping someone can explain this to me. I stayed at POR for 7 days during President's Week. Before I left I had heard about the Comeback Rates but I was under the impression that they were no longer offering them by the time I got there. However now I read on these boards that they extended the offer. Why wasn't I given this offer when I was there? I feel really cheated as we recently bought PAPs and are planning two more trips--one in Aug and one in Dec--and I would have been more than happy to book it all when I was there--especially since it looks like the comeback rates are as good as the historical AP rates for the same time. Does any one know exactly how these rates are being marketed?

Most people just used the code available on mousesavers.com while they were there to book the come back rate. Most of these people did not get anything left on their doors either.

They did extend the rate you are talking about through March 9.

You could try calling CRO and ask to speak with Guest Services and explain that you were there and that you have future stays booked and see if you can get the code applied-the only problem is that the code is now expired, I believe.

There is another code out. ZWHV it is also a come back rate that has to be booked while you are there.

It wouldn't hurt to call and see what can be done. You never know. Don't just speak to anyone. Ask for a supervisor of some sort and explain your situation. Be sure to be ready to book if you do intend on going back. If they offer you anything you'll have to take care of it right then and there.

I wish I could offer you more hope. Were you aware of the code before you went down there.

I did see another post from someone who e-mailed guest services back and forth about a situation very similar to yours and he was offered something but I don't know what it is.

They could very well offer you nothing. Just be nice but be persistant and see what happens.

We stayed a week in December at WL, and were not offered comeback rate either. First of Jan. I made reservations for a week in July. My husband wants me to email also and ask why we were not offered rate. We go every summer, first time at Xmas. I called but response was had to make reservation from their property! Who would I email and ask! Hey I Know this wouldn"t work but isn"t TDS their property?[ha! ha!] Thanks for email address for guest relations if anyone has!

I have yet to figure out how Disney determines this subject. With all of our stays, we have yet been offered "comeback rates", postcards in the mail or any other type of savings, etc. They supposedly have all of this information on file. I have heard people visiting for their first time and receive specials. Go figure!!!
Anyone have it figured out? I would be tickled pink to get something!!! I hope everyone else are getting the specials!!!

My issue with all this is that I went there with the understanding that I would get a door hanger with the offer on it. When I did not receive one I just figured that it was no longer being offered. It wasn't until I returned and read it on these boards that I discovered that it was still in effect when I was down there. Just wondering if any one else who was down over President's week got the door hanger?? Thanks for the suggestion vbfamily I think that I will pursue it--I'm pretty good at complaining--just ask my DH!

I guess many people just went with the code ready and called from their rooms without ever getting the door hanger. Were you under the impression that you could only use the code if you received the door hanger?

Let us know what happens.

Yes I was, which is my own fault I suppose. I can't believe with the number of hours I spend on these boards that I missed that!! I kept hoping for a door hanger and when we didn't get one I thought that they were no longer offering the rates.:(

I bet that if you explain your situation to Disney Guest Services then they may be able to help you out.

As far as the post card rates go I think they do only send them out to 1st or 2nd time guest. It happened that way to our friends and to us. In 2000 on our first stay on property in March of that year we got a post card in the mail to come back anytime between early June and October 16th (I think.) The same thing happened to our friends in 1999. We have both been back over 10 times each and have received nothing but a few surveys.

My own theory is that Disney has the housekeeping staff go through your luggage while you are out and based on the quality of your clothing, they determine whether you can afford to pay full rate or will need a discount to return. That determines whether you get the comeback offer or not.

From that perspective you should be happy as it would appear they felt your clothing was first rate.

Hope this makes you feel better.

My guess was just that, for those of us who go EVERY year... Disney figures they don't need to offer us a deal to get us back...

I would contact Guest Services. DH and I went in early Feb. I missed all the posts about the Comeback Rate and we didn't get a door hanger.

I decided we were going to go again in late Aug. I called CRO and explianed how we were just there and weren't offered the rate. I asked to speak to a supervisor on 2 separate calls and was told, "You have to call from Disney property". Yes, I know

I finally booked the resort I wanted with the dates I wanted. Then, I emailed guest services with my confirmation number, explained the situation and was given a call back from Darnell at CRO. She gave me the Comeback Rate. So, I'd go ahead and try it. Good luck!!

Contact Guest Services--the worst they can tell you is "no." We called during our trip to book for November. To be perfectly honest, we weren't impressed with the rate we were offered--$109 for a standard at Coronado Springs. We found the AP rates to be a much better deal--we'd just paid $79 for the same thing.

Pooh Girl 71 thanks so much for the info. Would you mind telling me what the rate was that you got as we are going back in late August as well? I think I'm going to call today and try my luck.

Actually the comeback promotion was only offered at SELECT resorts, which explains why not everyone got one. They picked one value, one moderate and one deluxe resort.

I was also given the BAQ rate for a stay this summer that I booked after returning home in Jan. Book your stay, then email Guest Services explaining how you intended to book while at the world but did not receive a door hanger so you waited until you got home to book, and then you found that the Come back special was still being offered. I would politely go on the offensive by asking why they chose not to offer you this special rate. Anyway the rate we got was 40% off AKL savannah view for 6 nights and 40% off WL for 6 nights in June. I hope you get it!

The comeback rate isn't 40% off all resorts, at least not for all time frames. OKW wasn't. The discount ran about 25%. When you're figuring our the percentage of discount, remember the discount is just off the rack rate. Taxes and charges for extra people in the room are added on after the discount is applied. It's a nice discount, but for us it's not as good as previous AP rates.

It's just going to be my DD and I. We're staying at All Star Movies from 8-24-03 to 8-31-03. Total including tax is $362 which is roughly $51 a night tax included.

We were staying at the FW cabins last month and I read about the come back rate on this board and on mousesavers.com. I took the info and code with me. I didn't receive any kind of card on our door. We actually arrived the day before the original expiration of this special so I just made sure to call as soon as we got into our cabin.

The CM I spoke with said it was the first time she heard of the special rate (code BAQ) but she also told me it looked like they'd be extending the offer through the beginning of March. I was able to get a pretty good rate for WL in August. I would have never have known about this offer if it weren't for this site and mousesavers.com. Make sure to sign up with mousesavers.com so they'll send you an email everytime there is a change or when a new code is released.
