Why Toys R Us Online Stinks...VENT

I purchased Stinky the Garbage truck for my son for Christmas. I get it home go to show DH how it works, and the darn thing didn't move. I bought it at a B&M. The next day, I was at the mall and noticed a TRU express. They wouldn't take it because they said that they didn't sell it so they would have no where to stock it.....Um the thing doesn't work. period. The only place it should be stocked was the backroom damages!

The express stores tend to sell the older outdated toys.
 
ITA for products that are exclusive to TRU, but I do not believe that number is anywhere near the 72% that the article mentions.

It should be 0%. No kids, or adults should be exposed to chemicals that are harmful. And Toys R Us packaging is filled with these chemicals after they promised to get rid of it.

Yes, I agree, but what I am saying is don't blame TRU for chemicals in products that they have no control over. For the ones that they have control over, absolutely they should be held accountable. However, boycotting TRU sends the wrong message. Go after the manufacturers, otherwise people who are not as knowledgeable will go buy those same dangerous toys elsewhere.
 

I would like to point out that sometimes the B&M stores and the online "stores" are not even "owned" by the same people. I don't know if this is the issue with TRU or not, but at one time I worked for a company that was actually split into 3 totally separate entities. They were all "company X" but their B&M stores were 100% separate from the online stores and the specialized stores. There was no overlap in employees, prices, or inventory.

Now they have all come under one roof.

I actually do boycott the manufacturers as well. I go here http://www.healthystuff.org/departments/toys/ and look up the level of chemicals in toys. I will not buy certain brands and do USA Made as much as possible. I ask others to do the same (falls on deaf ears with my mother in law :sad2:) The site has some good information and is shocking to find to find out what bad things companies are passing off to our kids and harming them. Oh, and look closely at how many are "A Subsidiary Of Toys R Us"
 
Last year I had major problems with getting my gift card back after they cancelled an order because the item ended up backordered and then out of stock completely. I hate their website, hate it. Took me over a month of back and forth with them to get it all back.

I don't particullarly like the store customer service either but if the item is cheap enough I suck it up and shop there. I hate the store only slightly less than the website.

I really, really miss Children's Palace "Everything a toy store should be!"
Indeed! Warehouse style stocking - floor to ceiling toys, not this "creative" layout of a store that looks half stocked and messy. There is a reason for nostalgia - kids just don't have it as good these days!

Mostly because their parents have become such consummate bargain-shoppers. Bargain hunting leads to lower revenues, lower revenues leads to cost-cutting, cost-cutting leads to not having things as good.

Around here Disney would be more successful if they realized that more than just little girls shopped in their store! Before it closed the local store here was about 75% princess with the only boy options being Cars or Wall-E.

I guess that is true most places though...the boys always get left high and dry with clothing and accessories.
 
Back to the original vent lol! It's New Years Eve and I still don't have my credit back on my gift card. I called and spoke to them today. The people who credit the gift cards are not in the office til 9. At which time they will either credit back my original card or issue me a new one (fingers crossed!) So if they send me a new one I can be looking at another week wait. If they credit the gift card maybe within 24 hours? They better not be out of the office because of the holiday lol

That's not clear. While some people may be interested in other merchandise, it is not clear that Disney would be more successful offering that merchandise. Disney is among the best at extracting our money from us, and you know that if there was a better way of getting more money from us they'd apply it.

Call corporate, now. Not just the 1800 number for the website. Keep on them and you will get it back. Took me a month like I said earlier in this thread and gave me one hell of a migraine (literally) but I did get it.
 
Ok just got off the phone with Toys r us again. I spoke with a representative named Roger. He told me he could issue me a credit in the amount of the gift card and place my order again. All this time I have been waiting for them to reissue my gift card and they could have taken care of this thing in minutes? So now I have to wait and see if we get these games in the mail.
I am surprised the supervisor didn't come up with this and save me the frustration!
