Why The Ship Of Fools?

That seems rather weird--or is just me? I will NOT be wearing anything that says that, but that is just me. Maybe I don't get it?

But that would make us 'flakes' - not fools? (From the saying, "Why is CA called the Granola State? 'Cuz what ain't fruits or nuts is flakes.")

I'm guessing we are fools for heading into what must be unbearable temps visiting the Canal during August. Not to mention that it is hurricane season for MX ... as well as FL?? But look at all the folks signed up for this August repo cruise -- we are not worried. (Does this make us fools?)

Oh yeah -- that describes our group --

Let's see -- hmmm.. DCL helped pay for some of this cruise with the refund of the Hurricane Frances cruise ( 9/4/05 - that sailed on 9/7/05 from Fort Lauderdale). So have I learned anything -- Nah .. try to hit another hurricane - one on each coast

We adopted the nickname "Ship of Fools" from a painting of the same name. We were able to identify several of the members of our group represented in that painting, so decided that the name described us well.

We have gotten to know each other on line for over a year while waiting for this trip of a lifetime. As we have grown closer, the silliness and good natured kidding has come out more and more. We are having a wonderful time planning the trip together. The information learned from our group is invaluable.

The only item we will be wearing that says "Ship of Fools" will be our lanyards. I am sorry you do not want to join in the fun with us, but be warned, there will be several hundred people on the ship wearing those lanyards. Hopefully we will not offend you.

cat 4 that sleeps 5 has the sofa bed, the bunk out of the ceiling plus the murphy bed out of the wall

The photos off the main page of the web site are all the Magic, and we were in a Cat 4. We had 4 of us and the youngest slept in the bed that comes down from the ceiling,. The back of the sofa actually flips down to make a bed, and is very comfortable. So you are not taking up any room space by sleeping on the couch. We never even opened the Murphy bed that is behind the chair. The cat 4 is only about 3 feet longer than cats 5 and 6, so that there is room for that chair and the Murphy bed.

There is a link off the main page (at the very top) to our photos of the Wonder. We stayed in a cat 5 on that cruise, and couldn't even notice the difference in the size between the cat 5 and cat 4.

Sounds great! We originally had a cat 9 way back last June when we booked. Then thought a balcony would be wonderful going through the canal. So wait listed for a cat 6. In the meantime a gty 4 came up and I couldn't stand the suspense anymore so took it. I thought with all that time we could save up for the extra $ . Now it's only a few weeks away!

Time is certainly flying by. It will be interesting to see how many cabins open up at the 75 & 60 day mark.

Me , me!!! Mine are day glow pink. I got them at the Samsonite factory store, DH has day glow green, got them there, too. He seems to think that his luggage gets searched more if he locks it, but his gets searched about 75% of the time, locked or not.
