Why the Overwhelming Dislike for Liberty Tree Tavern?

I dined there for lunch on my last trip. The food was ok, but you could tell it was made way in advance, as the turkey was warm, not hot, and a little on the dry side. I like going for the quaintness, but not always for the food.

I think for MK, and the price it is decent. Do Imlove it? No. Are there too many better options in MK? NO. Personally we leave for dinner.

Now we did try LTT a few times and it is ok as long as you understand what you are getting...stouffers and such. My DH actually loves it:rotfl: I think it is a good place with pre teens and teens and the service is always wonderful.

We've eaten there once for lunch, and it was okay. I probably wouldn't go back there again. To tell you the truth, I don't think there's a single table service restaurant in the Magic Kingdom that is worth the trouble. Of them, all, though, Liberty Tree Tavern probably has the most appealing menu.

I have to agree - my DH and I did LTT for a very late lunch before the MNSSHP event. It was ok - but nothing to write home about. I haven't had dinner there though.

Instead, we decided next time we'll do a restaurant somwhere on the monorail (like the Wave or Ohana) and then hop over to the MK.

We LOVED it!!! We went during lunch at Spring Break and YES we were a walk-in!!! I ate the Pilgrim's Feast and I thought it was good. We all got dessert and loved it except my hubby who was the largest guy in the group. He ordered some kind of lava cake and it came out in a huge bowl/plate (can't remember) with a small scoop of cherry ice cream. It looked like a hot hostess cupcake. It was hilarious. We are going back this October and can't wait!

On the other hand--Sci-Fi--we all HATED it! I will never go back there again! Waste of time and $$$. To each their own. Can you guess which one I voted for in the poll to cancel :rolleyes1.

I think you made the right decision keeping your meal at Liberty Tree Tavern, and I am also surprised by the poll results. It certainly isn't one of the best restaurants on property, but it is always solid and ranks among my favorite theme park restaurants. I prefer lunch to dinner there as well.

We loved our LTT a couple of years ago. I thought the food was really good, made it feel like getting to enjoy Thanksgiving w/o the work and family drama ;)

However, w/o the characters I just don't know if I can add it back to the list. I think I would miss the whole experience too much if that makes any sense? I'll never understand why they took away such a classic but leave ones like Jojo? BTW, I noticed on the DIS reviews section (not the boards) that people mentioned having characters recently? I'm not sure if it was the full character
dining experience though.:confused3

Yes, when Crystal Palace was closed for rehab in Jan & Feb, LTT was the replacement character meals. However, now that CP is open again, the characters have returned there. :goodvibes

I miss the characters but I actually think the food has improved at dinner since they have been gone. :)

I'm at a loss....I have eaten there a few times..it's always been good...good food, good service, and a realxing place to get away fom the park for a bit. But it's not among my favorites...maybe you had other choices that were awesome...so if they had to cancel one, it would be LTT?

I told them to pick 4 that they would cancel, and LTT got the most votes, followed by Sci-Fi, Chef Mickey's and Akershus, which I did end up canceling.

I never miss Ltt for lunch, we love it.
We have always had a good meal there.
Love the Fried Cheese app, Pilgrams feast, Chkn & dumplings, Tri Corner & Pot roast and we ask for rolls at lunch with the honey butter.
I think the Ooey gooey toffee cake is the best dessert at WDW.

We try and get an early lunch adr, about 11:30 and never wait more then 5-10 for a table

We really like LTT. We usually eat there for lunch on the first day of our trips as we always hit the MK first. I really love the strawberry vinagrette dressing on the salad and the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cakefor dessert.

We have never had dinner there because I am just not a fan of "Thanksgiving" food and mac-n-cheese! But we have had lunch there multiple times and love it - their lunch entree salad is delicious. We had ADRs there for our upcoming trip but ended up having to cancel due to scheduling conflict, not without disappointment!

what's thanksgiving food? I've heard this mentioned with LTT by someone else too

They refer to it as that because it's food typically served during Thanksgiving.

Their menu is:

DECLARATION SALAD - Tossed Mixed Greens, served with our special Tavern Strawberry Vinaigrette Dressing

PATRIOT'S PLATTER - Roasted turkey breast, carved beef, and smoked pork loin, with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, herb bread stuffing, and Macaroni and Cheese.

DESSERTS -Fruit crisp with vanilla ice cream included.

We had lunch at LTT in 2009 and it was so good we changed our ADRs to eat there again the next day! It was not family style for lunch. We loved the pot roast and the desserts.

We had an early dinner at LTT before MNSSHP once. We did enjoy it, but I think that was mostly because of the characters (who were also in costume!).

The food was just ok, IMO. Pretty basic, edible, but not fantastic.

We probably won't go again for dinner since it's not a character meal now. I cannot speak for lunch, however, since there is a different menu.

We don't dislike Liberty Tree Tavern. We, all 7 of us, are looking forward to going.:woohoo:
