Why the Overwhelming Dislike for Liberty Tree Tavern?

Well, we almost threw up from eating the mac-n-cheese. It was the worst we have ever had!!!

I also didn't particularly care for the atmosphere.

We have never had dinner there because I am just not a fan of "Thanksgiving" food and mac-n-cheese! But we have had lunch there multiple times and love it - their lunch entree salad is delicious. We had ADRs there for our upcoming trip but ended up having to cancel due to scheduling conflict, not without disappointment!

I'm assuming this was at dinner because they don't serve mac n cheese at lunch. Was it still a character meal when you went?

No, we ate there in May of 2008. I am quite sure it was for lunch. It was not a character meal. We decided to skip this place for our trip this past Feb.

LTT is our favorite lunch spot in MK and probably one of our favorite lunch places overall. The Pot Roast is delicious and the burgers are really good too. We like it much better than the Plaza which we tried last trip since LTT was booked.

Never tried lunch there. We used to LOVE dinner when it was a character meal, but we don't plan to go back now that it isn't. It is WAY overpriced for what you get for dinner. The characters made it worth it.

We loved LTT tavern when we went last year for lunch. So much so I think we might do it twice next time. The pot roast was very nice, and we loved the orange slush drink that comes with the souvenir glass.

Don't know why you wouldn't enjoy it. We had good service and liked the atmosphere. A nice break from the park. :thumbsup2

A while back I took a poll asking people which ADRs they would cancel and Liberty Tree Tavern LUNCH got the most votes. Why does everyone dislike it so much? It seems to get pretty good reviews. :confused3
I have never eaten lunch there, but I had the misfortune of eating dinner when it was still a character meal. The food was absolutely horrible! The best part of the whole meal was the salad with strawberry vinaigrette dressing (I think). The mac n cheese and stuffing was nasty, the potatoes were cold and the turkey was processed and reformed. Blech. I had such a bad experience at dinner there is no way I would try it for lunch.

I started to freak out when I saw your post :scared1:, but once I started reading the responses, I felt much better :goodvibes. I just made our last ADR here. Since we are going to MK on our very last day before going home (have the latest flight out of MCO), we wanted to have a nice lunch somewhere in MK. We hadn't eaten here since the dinner had the characters, but thought the menu looked really good for lunch, plus the prices are not bad at all. I am so glad to hear that there are people that really do love this lunch, if not, then I would of had to rethink my decision.

DH and I really enjoy LTT for both lunch and dinner. We'll be dining there again at the end of May. I will say however, that we do miss the characters here and wish they'd return.

What did you have it up against? It could be that it was just the least favorite of the ones you listed, but still really good. :)

My family loves LTT! :goodvibes We had a great experience there in February. Our lunch was wonderful. Normally we go for dinner, but lunch was a really great treat. Can't wait to go back next year.

I asked people to pick the 4 they would cancel.
Here are the other restaurants with the # of votes they received:
Liberty Tree Tavern (Lunch) 55
Sci-Fi (Lunch) 47
Akershus (Breakfast) 46
Chef Mickey's (Breakfast) 44
50's Prime Time (Lunch) 43
Boma (Breakfast) 37
Ohana (Dinner) 22
Crystal Palace (Breakfast) 20
Le Cellier (Lunch) 16

I ended up canceling Sci Fi, Akershus, and Chef Mickey's.

Didn't like the advise you got :lmao:?

Given your group make-up (your mom and 2 teen kids -- one of which is you) I would have KEPT Sci-Fi. Your 15 year old brother would have really liked it.

 We kept LTT because the menu/food pics look good to us. I couldn't figure out why it was ranked so low on the list and after reading everyone's answers I'm still confused. :confused3 Most of the bad experiences seem to be at dinner. I'm hoping it was just a case of people liked my alternate options, not that they dislike LTT (unless they were voting based on dinner, which isn't what I wanted).

It's actually just my mom and me, my brother isn't going.

From the rest of the thread I think you're correct that lunch is better than dinner. IMO, anything is better than dinner at LTT! Have a great mother-daughter trip!

I am a foodie and I still like eating dinner at LTT.

We have been there a couple of times for lunch and the food was good but the service/wait times were bad enough that we have no plans on returning for lunch.

We have eaten dinner there about once a year for over a decade both as a character meal and without the characters. The apple dessert and mac and cheese both taste as you would expect Stouffer's frozen food to taste, but the other parts of the meal were exceptional. And I have to admit to actually liking he apple cobbler and ice cream.

I enjoyed the salad and rolls, the beef and turkey were great and the green beens were fresh and nicely cooked.

I think CRT at dinner is awful, Tony's is bad anytime, and CP ok at best, but I actually have left LTT tavern happy after every dinner we have had there. I would personally rank it as the best table service in the park.

Everybody has their own tastes.

In December of 2005 we had one of the best lunches at LTT of our entire trip. GREAT server, excellent sweet tea, good location, good food, a great lunch!

We went back for lunch in November 2006 and I was looking most forward to this meal. We had a horrible, non-existant server, sat right beside a table of 15 which 7 of them were kids under the age of 7-8 and screaming, yelling, and running around, found out they no longer had sweet tea or the butter griddled pound cake which was my FAVORITE dessert in WDW, and the portions of food were smaller and just ok.

Every restaurant has good days and bad days and there's some things that are out of their control. I might try them again in the future but it'll be awhile.

We've only eaten dinner a couple of times but I don't care for most of the type of food, don't care for "family style" type of restaurants, and can get the "colonial" atmosphere 10 minutes from my house :).

I don't care for most of the TS restaurants at MK, CRT I would vote as the worst. CP, Plaza, and Tony's are ok but not "great" IMHO so these are where we normally end up eating.

(Oh, and Sci-Fi for lunch is one of my MUST do's for almost every trip! Food's ok but I love the atmosphere and I've never had anything "horrible" for lunch [dinner's another story], overpriced yes but the experience is worth it)

That's the truth :). I actually have had two great meals at Tony's. We went for a NYE dinner there a few years ago and the veal shank was to die for! We usually end up at Crystal Palace when eating a TS meal in the MK. I really like the salad selection there and some of the hot dishes are quite tasty. The desserts, however, are just "eh" ... but I'm not a big sweets eater. I have not been to CRT since they jacked up the price to be all-inclusive so I can't speak to that.
