My two cents on corrals. Generally I am a corral C participant. This past MW I ran with family members for the 10k and the half, out of E and F respectively. I experienced kinda what I thought I would. For the 10k I was with my DW and we were going at a fast walking pace. The route was not very congested, we flowed pretty nicely with the crowd, no chance of stopping for pictures as the lines were outrageous but outside of that it went very well. The next day I was running with my DD and (F)SIL. We were attempting to run, using my intervals (90/30) and it was pretty much a nightmare! Our choices were to slow way down, zig zag all over the course or to run along the side in the grass. The worst was the walkway going into MK, simply wall to wall people. We decided to slow down and wait out the congested area, the last few miles were really good.
What I take from it is that the course (outside of pinch points) works pretty well if you are going roughly the pace runDisney believes people of that corral should be going. And this leads to a more enjoyable experience. I was the slowest runner of the three of us on the day of the half, but I was the only one with a POT (could have gone out of C), I would bet that the other two could have easily run a POT time to get into B and my daughter likely A. So we should have expected to struggle going the pace we wanted amongst runners going much slower.
I guess all this to say that I believe runDisney is a fantastic environment for new runners, and should remain so, but I think expanding the POT would help. Especially for runners like me pacing at the edge of corral C/current edge of POT times. I am trying to get a bit faster, but got work to do!
