I have just taken the step of up from my point and shoot (Canon Powershot Pro S1 IS) to a DSLR (Digital Rebel XTI) after much reading and driving camera/electronics store employees crazy by testing different bodies, lenses and such. I read this board every day and find that the posters here who share their knowledge and exeperince helped me to be a better informed consumer than I might have otherwise been

I also want to thank all those who recommended the "nifty fifty" which I picked up with my kit. All I can say is WOW! One of my reasons for upgrading was to have a better system for low light and mixed light sources shots both with and without flash, and this lens does fit the bill nicely. So once again, for all you very valuable advice
Finally, I have to say, if it weren't for the pictures and posters on this board, I probably would not have become as interested in photography as I now am. I certainly never would have given a second thought to exposures, white balance, apeture values and the rule of 16 (still working on all of these
), and how I could make my pictures better. So while my wallet is not so happy, I still think that
