Why some don't like to mobile order?

What if they added kiosks out front the QS places.(or all around the park like the old fast pass kiosks) This would have to have all the allergy menu items and multiple payment options even cash. I feel this would solve so many things folks find wrong with mobile order.

What if the folks who want to mobile order continue to mobile order, and the folks who don't want to mobile order continue to order at the register? Why is it so important that everyone mobile order?

Good idea Last Thursday evening Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe was huge line outside waiting for Order Ready and another huge line congestion inside. We Mobil ordered as we enter MK and then walked down Main Street (local wanting to see return of fireworks) to wait and wait and wait. Lots of tables available… food was cold…
Next time I will just order something at Starbucks …but I love Cosmic Rays Hate mobile order… itisnotworking…

Since re-opening Disney has been pushing for everyone to use Mobile Order to help with social distancing & to help deal with the lower staffing in the parks right now. During that time, some people who previously didn't use mobile order all of the time, for various reasons, may have expressed their feelings about being mobile order being the go-to way to eat at CS places right now. And I imagine those comments/complaints have brought about threads like this, asking why some people don't like it. :)

It just baffles me how everyone cares so much about how others do things.

Most people on here who said they dislike it have issues with allergies, and using a phone. I was just offering ideas. Since Disney is less likely to revert back to the old ways. Do what you wanna do I am not here to change anyone's minds on mobile order. When people discuss things there will always be more than one side talking.

They had kiosks at Pecos Bill's a few years ago for a short time. I liked them, but lots of people couldn't seem to figure them out.

While I do not mind mobile ordering, and have no allergies, I am a somewhat picky eater and not fully by choice (severe acid reflux and other gastric issues). So sometimes I like to look and see what is there, or request a sauce on the side, because no matter how careful I am, sometimes my body is just "haha nope" and I have issues.
Someone also mentioned the magic bands and I agree that my family and I love them and will use them as long as we have them.

I don’t like or dislike mobile ordering in general. I use it often here at home.
I haven’t used it yet at WDW, I’m sure on my upcoming trip I probably will.
Or maybe I’ll just be in the parks and decide I want something to eat and go stand in line and order for no other reason than I feel like it.
I don’t care what or why other people use or don’t use mobile ordering.

I don't hate mobile order... when it is working properly. The problem is that wi-fi and even cell service are unreliable in many areas of WDW which can lead to spinning wheels and an inability to get mobile orders in quickly. I was there last week and a few times it was super frustrating and I wished I could just go in and order my food. One time I submitted my order only to have any record of it disappear in the app. I ordered it again, which also disappeared. I had to walk to Roaring Fork at WL to ask what was going on; they had duplicate orders. It was a real pain. I never had the experience that we had to order hours ahead. The longest wait was maybe 30 minutes around lunch time in Hollywood Studios. Overall I like mobile ordering, but sometimes just doing it the old fashioned way is preferable.

Again, literally no one in the thread is trying to convince people to mobile order. So, I'm baffled by your bafflement.
OP is asking why others don't do it. If the OP didn't care, they wouldn't have asked the question.
I like looking at the big shiny pictures of the food with a descriptions and nutrition info behind the counter.
This is actually a big piece of it for me. We don't go often enough to be familiar with all of the options. Having a photo at the ready (without toggling back and forth to other pages on my phone is really helpful).

have the same problem

Two years ago, I loved it. But it was just my DH and I.

In April, DD did the ordering for the 12 of us. Took forever . I was disappointed we couldn't order just an extra entree. We ended up ordering a whole extra kids meals and share with whomever was still hungry.

Or can you order just an entree? Was looking at just some mac and cheese.

I hope it is okay for me to ask this question. I am not trying to create an argument. I just cannot help but wonder why the thought of mobile ordering would turn some people off. Instead of having my own assumptions, I would like to pose the question here to get some real feedback. For me, I would mobile order whenever I can. The pressure of having the cashier and people waiting behind me all waiting for me to place my order and to get out of their way is too much for me to handle. I would rather stay in my hotel room or a quiet corner in the park to place my order on the app and pick it up when it is ready. During my recent trip, I would order my family's breakfast when I wake up. Then I brush my teeth, wash my face, get changed, and leisurely walked down to the cafeteria where my breakfast is already waiting for me. Same thing for my orders at Ronto Roaster and at Docking Bay 7. I ordered at 9am for a pickup time between 12pm-12:30pm. I rode my rides, walked over to the restaurants while bypassing all people who were trying to order their lunch but had to wait for a long time. Once I stood in line for the Joffery's coffee cart at DHS. There were 8 people in front of me and there was no shade. I really wished that mobile order was available for that location so I could wait in the shade instead of under the sun..

That's just my take on the mobile order. I hope the mobile order is here to stay.

I do typically prefer mobile order, but since it has no option to ask for no ice in my drink (or at least didn't as of my last visit in May), I often end up waiting to order in person instead. The official instruction I get from CMs if I did order on line is to go up to the counter and flag someone down and tell them in person that I don't want ice, but usually the CMs filling the orders are rushing around so much that it's tough to catch anyone and then they have to stop what they're doing to go over to whoever's filling drinks and figure out which one is mine. And if I'm too late to catch them before they get to mine, then I feel wasteful because now they have a full drink that they don't need. It's not technically a huge deal, but I feel awkward and disruptive doing it and if the line isn't massive, I'd rather just ensure that the "no ice" request is included from the start by going through the physical line. I don't understand why it isn't part of the app, though - it shouldn't be a difficult thing to include and I can't imagine it's *that* rare for people to request.

To my knowledge you can't order just an entree. I was there in June and there were many times I would have wanted to do that. I started eating low-carb this year and my experience with mobile order is that you could only order as shown - you could not delete the included side. In my case that would have meant that I would have been ordering a meal where I would have thrown away part of it. I was disappointed about this, and remember many times in the past where I could have just ordered the entree by itself. In my particular case this cost Disney money as I ordered less in the parks than I normally would have.

It just baffles me how everyone cares so much about how others do things.

*Some people are simply curious.
*Some may want to better understand what they've been seeing/hearing from other Disney guests/fans.
*Some just like getting a different perspective on things.
*Many just like talking about all things Disney related, and asking people what they like/dislike about a place and why is a pretty typical conversation when discussing travel destinations. :)

I wonder if this is by design and not just some weird IT stuff. Less customization the shorter the waits and the more food that can be pushed out. Also people spending more for items they don't want. I feel for mobile order to be great all these options would have to be added. I ran into this issue aswell at the QS at contempo. I just wanted a plain cheese burger but the adult one and it had no option to customize. I ended up with the child's one since it came plain already.
