Why some don't like to mobile order?

I hope it is okay for me to ask this question. I am not trying to create an argument. I just cannot help but wonder why the thought of mobile ordering would turn some people off. Instead of having my own assumptions, I would like to pose the question here to get some real feedback. For me, I would mobile order whenever I can. The pressure of having the cashier and people waiting behind me all waiting for me to place my order and to get out of their way is too much for me to handle. I would rather stay in my hotel room or a quiet corner in the park to place my order on the app and pick it up when it is ready. During my recent trip, I would order my family's breakfast when I wake up. Then I brush my teeth, wash my face, get changed, and leisurely walked down to the cafeteria where my breakfast is already waiting for me. Same thing for my orders at Ronto Roaster and at Docking Bay 7. I ordered at 9am for a pickup time between 12pm-12:30pm. I rode my rides, walked over to the restaurants while bypassing all people who were trying to order their lunch but had to wait for a long time. Once I stood in line for the Joffery's coffee cart at DHS. There were 8 people in front of me and there was no shade. I really wished that mobile order was available for that location so I could wait in the shade instead of under the sun..

That's just my take on the mobile order. I hope the mobile order is here to stay.

Multi-allergies are impossible, especially if 1 is not top 8.
Mobile order is twitchy and unreliable (never forget my phone and the Universal app refusing to believe it was after 11am, so I could order b/c their mobile order required the restaurant to be open).
Putting in multiple orders one at a time takes forever.
Who wants to use their CC on their phone? I know how to secure my laptop - I hardly have a clue how to secure my phone while still letting it be functional with 100 apps b/c they all ask for personal permissions. So, I'd much rather give a CC than have my phone pay. I get my identity stolen every 12 months as it is (my spouse is a gov worker and we're both vets, and somehow that makes us easy targets and we get new CCs every 12 months from one of our companies)...

I could keep going...I hate mobile order. I like face time with people who know how the ordering and adjusting works and can do it at warp speed for me and just take my CC at the end. Just like I don't want to bag my own groceries unless a store rewards me (hi, Aldi's, with ridiculously cheap prices and fast checkouts), I don't want to cashier for myself unless Disney/Universal rewards me (maybe I'd try it more if they kicked 30% off the bill, or the amount they probably save in reduced front of the house labor)...

For me it's because I don't like pulling out my phone all the time to do things, I find the mobile order process cumbersome. It's the same reason I'm sticking with MagicBands as long as we can. Also, I'm assuming mobile order charges to my credit card and I don't like piling up a bunch of little charges on my card. Nothing against it other than that. There's too much moving to MDE (virtual queues, mobile orders etc.) that we'll all be walking with our heads down in our phones more than we already do, lol. I should add that I will mobile order on our next stay in August because it makes sense during Covid times. But it's not my preference.

Apple Pay and Google Pay are FAR more secure than using a regular card because the card number is changed for every transaction and can only be used once. Seems like you are not educated on mobile payments.

I don't have an Apple phone...and I don't really want to get educated on Google Pay. My card always works...my phone is frequently dead:). Yup, I'm not in my 20's:)...maybe if I was attached to my phone 24-7, I'd get on board Google Pay (although I doubt it), but I use my phone about once a week in normal life. This amuses my teens...but I like to see and talk to people, so if I'm not on my laptop, I'm not on the internet - I'm looking at faces and interacting with who is in front of me:)...

I’ve no problem with the concept of mobile ordering as it’s much the same at home and goodness knows enough people learned how to do that over the pandemic 😷

Were I at WDW it would annoy me that it’s only available at QS eateries.

We mostly mobile order, but off the top of my head, I can think of several reasons why some would rather place their order with an actual person....

- Maybe it's someone who isn't familiar with the menu and has questions
- Maybe it's someone who needs to make slight changes that aren't available on the app
- Maybe it's someone who prefers to charge back to the room, which I don't believe is allowed on mobile ordering
- Maybe it's someone who just isn't comfortable ordering via mobile....elderly folks come to mind.
- Maybe it's someone's teens who are allowed to separate from their parents in the parks and the parents give them cash buy food

Like I said....just a few reasons off the top of my head.

Disney is using it to eliminate jobs and make more money. I refuse to use self checkout at grocery stores, etc. We need more jobs and fewer unemployed people, not the opposite. Below 5 opened a store 2 miles from my home, and both my wife and I walked out when we realized that it is all self checkout. Employee was flabbergasted until we told her why.

That's not how economics works. Artificially preserving obsolete jobs does not create economic benefit for workers in the medium or long term.

So just purchase several gift cards and Link those to the account for mobile ordering. Is that not an option? That's what I planned on doing. Before our trip I'm going to go to our bank and order $500 gift cards to equal the amount of money I think we're going to spend on food plus an extra $300 buffer and I'm going to link those to my account for mobile ordering.

But based on eyewitness accounts from others who have already used it, it's recommended.

I've used it many times. Someone may be recommending it, but it's not necessary. It is super easy to order just a few minutes ahead at almost every QC. The only exception I saw was Woody's (which is terrible anyway). People who say you have to order hours ahead are just whining, complaining, and fear mongering.

I actually didn't see any whining complaining or fear mongering from any of them that said this.

Not really sure this kinda thought works anymore.. people in there 40s have had cell phones since they were teenagers. Thus why Disney is going more mobile. Its the generation that is raising kids right now. 20-50 year olds are the market and most if not all are heavy mobile phone users.

Saying something that's untrue in order to cause angst or fear of mobile ordering is fear mongering.
And exactly how do you know it's not true? I personally know someone who went and used mobile ordering. According to them they had to wait a while to get their food after ordering right before arriving at the location because all the pickup times were taken. How exactly is telling me the honest truth fear mongering? Unless of course you're saying that my friend lied to my face. Is that what you're saying? I think I'll follow their advice and order earlier in the morning for my lunch or dinner quick Service locations. 😉 They're not the only person that I've say that.

LOL - having to wait awhile to get your food equals needing to order hours ahead? Ok...sure. Also, if all of the pickup times were taken, then they wouldn't be waiting awhile to get their food, they would be unable to get their food. So, this doesn't sound credible.
