Why so many SSR resales?

I was looking at the Timeshare Store resales list and was amazed at how many SSR resales there are versus all the only resorts. I wonder why?

But it's also the newest one that's open, so people have owned it less time than BW/OKW/VB/WL/HH and it should have less resales.

There's 125 SSR for sale, for example, versus 8 BC, 9 BW, or 42 OKW.

Maybe they're selling their contracts for profit! :lmao:

Aside from the obvious, which is SSR's sheer size (bigger than even AKV and OKW), there are so many reasons . . . including the fact that new owners may not have taken into account all the costs involved in their new contracts - and they sell to keep the family homestead floating.

Of course, they could all just HATE SSR - which is why we bought add-ons their twice in the last 2 years. Now we can sell them to make BIG MONEY. :lmao: :lmao:

2 words, buyers remorse. They get caught up in the pixie dust, figure it's great to buy and then realize they can't afford all the expenses that go along with it (maint fees, still have to go to FL, tickets, food, etc).

Economy isn't good which is also forcing people to sell of luxury purchasers. While the older resorts have established owners, many of which have their contracts paid off by now (if they did finance), and have more trips under their belt and realize the costs involved.

To us SSR always seemed to combine the worse components of all the other DVC resorts. It's location is away from the parks, the unit density is high and the size of the rooms are nothing compared to OKW. While none of the other DVC properties at WDW have rooms the size of OKW, they at least have proximity to a park going for them. Sorry, I don't think DTD is quite the same.

Don't forget the issue of closing PI. I don't know how many actually are/will be selling, but many complained that the closure of PI had them considering letting go of SSR ownership.

I agree with most of the points made already. Its been a bit of a perfect storm in pushing people to sell their SSR contracts.

- It is the largest resort.

- It's the newest resort, so it has the most people experiencing buyer's remorse (whether it's financial, disillusionment with the actual resort and/or the ability to book at other resorts at 7-months, etc.) which has probably been exacerbated by Disney's more aggressive/pressured marketing during this time.

- SSR was being sold at the height of the economic boom, and many people purchased beyond their means. Now that the bubble has burst, they can't afford it anymore.

- Disney experiencing more bus transportation issues, which seems to affect SSR disportionately.

- PI closing and DD losing it's appeal.
