To think about for the day...
I set out to find an article about how to stay on plan during the weekend and I found this article....Thoughts???

This is actually pretty much what I have observed over the last several years. The key I think is to pick a time to get back on plan each week.

I actually saw a diet plan that had you eating pretty much whatever you want from Friday at dinner until Sunday afternoon. Then Sunday dinner through Friday lunchtime you followed the plan. What they found is that as time went on splurges got healthier and portions smaller so one didn't tend to go as overboard on the weekend.

Two things to share for today. Well, maybe three.

1. Ate at outback over the weekend and was surprisingly able to find options keeping me within my calorie allowance! The Victoria steak is like 215-ish calories! Ate asparagus and a salad with low fat dressing. Kept my meal at about 400 calories and finished out my day on target with 1200 cals. Woohoo!

2. Tried this quick recipe this morning. Made 4 small pancakes. Super yum! Banana taste was not overwhelming at all.

3. I feel so great since I've not had sugar for over 2 weeks!

I haven't completely given up sugar--but feeling so much better being off the coke!

I think that article is right. Most people are busy during the week so less time to focus on food and there is more activity, things needing to be done. During the weekend you can nosh all day or wherever you are. you can do as much or little (like a couch potato) as you want-no schedule to follow.

I am home most of the time so it makes it much harder for food self control. It's always right there! Plus with teenage boys and thir friends, we are always fully stocked and lots of snacks, bothe healthy and unhealthy.

Today is the first day I woke up and did not sould like I am coughing up a lung so will head out for a bit of a walk. We are loving our "cool" weather here. It is currently 63. Love it.
Glad you are feeling better. I am jealous of your temps. We are not as cold as Jill, but we are below normal and it is not fun!


I think i forgot the weight this weekend- 3 lb off total. So, now 222.

I find this article true. Since I work Monday through Friday and have a schedule, I tend to eat better. On the weekends we are running around or at home, so I have more opportunity for poor choices. Tracking my calories seems to be helping with that right now.

Hello, after a girls weekend away (wine tasting one day, outlets and a fancy dinner the next), I'm happy to be down 1.4 today. I tried to plan well and then make good choices. I enjoy inspirational sayings, and one I tried to think about was "in a year from now you won't remember how _____ tasted, but you'll be glad of how far you've come".
Sounds like a fun weekend.
@pjlla always says--'Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.' And I think that is true. :)

That's awesome! I keep telling myself I can eat ____ next year. And then I feel better. Lol

Especially cupcakes. "I can eat cupcakes next year. When I'm skinny again and at Disney." Totally works. :)

I planned breakfast and dinner through Sunday night. :) I included a paleo dessert for Friday night and a paleo appetizer for Saturday night. We are having paleo choc waffles on Saturday with eggs and a fritatta on Sunday for brunch. If we don't eat all the dessert Friday/Saturday I will freeze the leftovers. :)

My plan is to add one day every day to the plan so then I am always about a week ahead.

I know if I have a plan I will be successful!

Those weeks are so frustrating, but don't let it get you down. Just keep following the plan and it will happen!!! :cheer2:
 
Updating this week's weigh in, 183, so 7lbs total so far. Woo-hoo! I've meet my January goal so now I can cheat. Just kidding. I know you lose it quicker in the beginning. It's nice to see the numbers going down for once, I don't want it to stop. I've just been continuing to follow myfitness plan. Have continued to exercise everyday since I started. A couple of days it was only 20 mins or so but better than nothing. I've been going out to eat about once/week and just adding it all up. Occasionally i'm 200 cals over, occasionally 200 cals under, so far it is evening out. I've definitely noticed that I don't want to eat as much anymore, get fuller quicker. DH and I shared a meal last night, which we never do. (He's also following MFP). He came home first last night, ate about 2/3 of his meal and was full so I finished it as mine. Usually he's a clean your plate kind of guy..

.4 could be anything. swollen muscles, salt..... Just keep it up and it will pay off
 
Will read and catch up soon. I might have time this evening. Had the day off but went to Dr appointment. Been cleaning kitchen with breaks. DD was home after complaining of sore throat. Still no fever she was only slight warm this morning. I don't know for sure her temp because our thermometer battery is dead. But she was acting normal most of the day once she got fully awake. So I made her help me in kitchen. We are on 20 minute break and back to start scrubbing the floor. :sad: I hate doing mopping. I hate mops, haven't found one I like and scrubbing on hands and knees takes so long and hard on my knees. Still have to do my weight routine and maybe we will dance a little if she's up to it later. Working 9 to 3:30 tomorrow poor thing will have to make it to bus on her own.
 
Hi all! Sorry for the disappearing act last week. It was quite the week at our house. In addition to everything else going on we ended up with two foster dogs. We had one Tuesday-Sunday. And yesterday we brought home a puppy who will be with us for one to two weeks. He is a character and we absolutely love him. I am off now to do replies, update the first page and get organized!

This is our current foster. His name is Basil. :)

So adorable. I just don't think I'd be able to foster. I'd want to keep them all.

Checking back in. January isn't going well. 146.6 is my current weight so I'm down about a pound which isn't on track for my goal of 4 pounds this month.

I haven't done well with exercising. I'm getting like 1 or 2 times a week. My goal of 6 was a little too ambitious considering I'm starting from none and when I kiss one, I give up and miss a couple.

I am doing well with water most days and haven't been eating on the go. Honestly, I feel like I've changed my eating habits pretty significantly (for me at least) and I was thinking that would be a later goal because it's so hard for me. I've been much more conscious of snacking and of portion sizes. It's what's providing me the small changes.

For some of the recent questions. My biggest weakest is my eating habits/likes. I know that doesn't seem like a real answer. There are very few foods I like and most are bad. I don't like most veggies, beans and meats. I love carbs and of course sweets. I love a loy of fruits and probably over do them in summer. In winter I mostly eat bananas for fruit. I like fresh fruits and they aren't as good in winter so they go bad too quickly and we don't buy them.

I had a friend recently share a saying. Fitness starts in the gym, weightless starts in the kitchen. I think there's some truth to it

For now slow progress is at least progress. I've stopped the scale from going up and started going down.

I'm working at the workouts and aiming for calories pretty loosely just eating for hunger and trying to do 90% or better on staying on track with the target range. Later I'll adjust nutrition when my budget is fixed back to normal. With some new changes I'm back up to 24 hours a week of work. That will help get us back to a better grocery budget I can work with more easily. I tend to agree with your friend. It can be easier to work at one portion of the puzzle at a time. We don't start building a puzzle using two hands trying to do it all at once. We work on edge pieces, then sections.

My plan for the day is to update the first page this afternoon. :) Thanks for your patience!

I was so off plan last week. And I am up a half a pound from my initial weigh in. :(

But there is still almost two weeks left in January and lots of time to see success this month!

Yeah I think it fits. I do find that I can slough off on Saturday and Sunday if I keep strong in the week. It works out well when I'm doing exercise with it anyway. I've slipped into a daily or near daily habit with the scale but it keeps going down, so far it's not a problem.


Two things to share for today. Well, maybe three.

Way to go on keeping to calories with Outback. The next time we make it out to dinner my brother said we have to do Outback. I'm not a fan but love the blooming onion even if it doesn't fit calorie plan. ahh pancakes sound good. YUM Well done on no sugar. I'm assuming only natural sugars(from banana) but that is what I'd like to try out for awhile. I know I have an addiction to sugar for sure.

I agree with this. Feel better soon. 63 is about perfect we are up to low 70s and I hope it stays like that for a long time before our hellish 100+ come back.

Nice job! I remember being at 222 at the end of 40 weeks of WW meetings and weigh ins. I tried to continue online and didn't work so well. That was well before my daughter was conceived. I was close in late 2009 to getting back there.

I had a good day yesterday. Made a yummy soup for dinner and paleo muffins for breakfast. While at the grocery I found myself slipping into my old habits--you know the one where you think you need a candy bar for completing your shopping. :crazy: Instead I bought some Laughing Cow Cheese for days when I absolutely need a mid afternoon treat. I can have it with carrots, apples, or pretzel crisps. I also bought some extra fruit. :)

I was just thinking in terms of rewards...funny how we are trying to eat right but use a sinful treat as a reward. I need to think a little more on this. Maybe a song to add to my running playlist for every 5 miles. And something a little bigger at every 10 pounds?

I'm going food shopping today also, hopefully i'll be able to avoid the bad stuff. Need to remember to eat before I go :D But I recently discovered laughing cow cheese also, that stuff is pretty good!

I have no reward system in place this time except my goal is to do some more Disney runs in the future which is kind of a reward in it's own tied into motivation. I once did in the past $5 per pound lost in a jar so I could buy new clothes when I lost weight. I am so busy trying to save for our cruise I have no leftovers :)

I haven't thought a lot about rewards. Right now, my focus is to fit into the clothes I have in smaller sizes (things I really like). One other difference is that I am choosing foods that support my weight loss efforts, regardless of price. I like the organic sliced apples from Trader Joes-I buy a bag or two a week. Since I'm not a fan of food prep or cooking, I also buy a lot of ready to prepare foods. It helps me to have a portion size and then the points ready to go by scanning. Their chicken piccata is great but pricey. So not exactly a reward but spending the money to support my weight loss in the moment.
