Why no trams?????

Hi,
We just got back yesterday from our trip to wdw and us/ioa. The rides are tremendous.....we had a blast!!!! As much fun as we had at US and IOA, the last impression we get is that LOOOOOOOOONG walk back to the car! After walking all day long around the parks, the last thing we all want to do is leave and walk, what seems like an eternity, to the parking garage. God forbid you forget something back at the car (which happened to us on this trip- ) it's such a long hike back. Why is that? The conveyor belts are pretty lame,-they need something much better. JMHO...

*If* trams were available, they'd only be available to take you across the street to the parking garage Trams would not then be practical inside of the garage, due to the traffic nightmare that would result from it. Can you imagine trying to back out of your parking space but you can't because of the tram? Also, think of following a tram all the way to the exit of the garage...and all of the other cars following you...following the tram.. anyways you get my point.

The conveyor belts (for lack of a better word) do a better job than any other method of shuttling guests back to the parking garage... what else would you suggest? I agree- it takes forever, especially when you're hot, tired, and cranky from playing hard. But again, realistically, you are only walking through City-walk before you're on the conveyor belts and able to rest all the way to the garage.

Universal does its part to be a Green company. Trams consume fuel. They save a lot by having the moving walkways.

Also, the parking garage is nice. Unless you're on the top floor (rare), you get an easy stroll back to your car which will have not baked in the sun all day.

Also it gives you the chance to stop by any of the citywalk shops/restaurants.

Trams = not needed.

I've never had a problem with the walk, I actually really enjoy it. Seeing all the buildings and the advertisements, it builds me up for a great day. Then on the way back, talk about what an amazing day we've had.

I don't want the trouble of the "line-cutters" at the tram waiting lines like at Disney world. Y'know, when your approaching a line and someone will speed up and jump ahead of you and bring their family of nine in front of you.

I think a tram ride would take forever. It would have to have an external entrance somewhere since there is no way the tram could go through citywalk. I've never though the walk was that long. Is it that much different than the walk to the trams at Disney's Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom? It is definitely much better than the setup at MK.

Not only that...you have to add on at least 30 mins to your time just getting from the car to the park and when you're really tired it seems a lot longer.

I like the trams at MK and other Disney parks, bearing in mind we are NOT used to the Florida heat. In saying that I liked the set up at Universal and didn`t feel the walk was bad at all.
We took our time leaving and wandered in and out some citywalk shops. Then going on the "conveyor belts" was nice too, we just stood and let them take us merrily along while taking in our surroundings.
It was nice being out of the shade and considering we lost our rental car twice out of 4 visits the parking garage was a godsend.

I had a friend that went to US and she stayed at the DoubleTree and they walked everyday from the Doubletree to the parks and back. They didn't like the shuttle the hotel offered because the hours were not good. We stay onsite so I am clueless how far that is.

They used to have trams when the studios first opened back in the early 90's. it was the shortest tram ride ever.

If you had an annual pass (back in the early days) they let you park in special spots right near the old globe at the old entrance!

totally agree the walk is not particulary long and if you come out at closing time there can be a band playing so you could stop off at pastaore for a "cold one" before resuming your journey

The walk is not that far when we used to use the garages. Now we just stay onsite which is 100 times better.

I remember that.Back in 92-93.Oh the old days.How things change for the better..Picture SW parking lot thats what it looked like back in the day!!!

I find the walk to the garage very easy and relaxing...Espiacally when its raining..The only thing that makes me mad is when people want to race in the garage.WE been cut-off a few times>>>

The walk out isn't easy, seems very long and it's depressing.

Never found it a problem, it's less than 5 minutes even if you don't use the walkways? Personally standing around and waiting for the tram annoys me more! I like to be on my way!

We were at USO yesterday and I intentionally paid attention to the walk back to the garages. I see what the OP what saying... I was tired, cranky, hot, and the Coke-Icee machine was broken It is a haul back to garages, but USO has done a great job making every attempt to comfort guests as best as possible. I still don't see how a tram would work... there's just simply no place to put one.

YES! I don't understand why many people (not just the kids) think the garage is a speedway!

The walk is much faster and nicer when you use the moving walkways the way they were intended! If you walk on them you get to the other end in no time. Standing on them... THAT takes forever!

I agree that the walk back to the parking lot is long at night when you (and your feet!) are tired, but i'd rather be moving towards my car than standing in a bus queue or tram queue.
