Why no SSR love?

I own an offsite timeshare which has 2 full service restaurants and a Pizza Hut on property. The resort is set up just like OKW/SSR and they (Vistana) offer room service for a $3 delivery fee.

Which Vistana do you own? My Brother inlaw is going to stay at one of the Vistana Resorts in the fall. Which do you recommend?

The Spa is wonderful. We also really enjoy the fitness center at no cost. Even when we're staying at BWV we plan a day at SSR for the pool and fitness center.

Dang B3 ..... Looks like at least some of those BWV owners don't look down at SSR!

I don't think that is a nice answer, considering the $$$ B3 (and all of us) put into this. I think a lot of B3's points are very valid ones.

Hmmm....now I am thinking. What we really need is a "sticky" where people can post how far out (inside the 7 month window) they booked, and what resorts were available when they did. It could be a "running" thread...like the ROFR one where people can see whether the "buy where you want to stay" thread is a good one, or a load of "bunk".

What do you guys think? Would you post your info? I would be happy to "tabulate" the thread, but someone would have to do it for me when I go "to the world" .

Please, let me know what you think of this idea.

I'm sorry if I offended you, that was not my intention.
I really said that in jest! Lets face it, B3 can dish it out and I think he can handle a little ribbing!

Anyone that has read any of your posts, know how you feel about BCV! I'm really glad that you love your DVC, but other people love SSR too! As I know you do, I also feel lucky to be part of DVC.
I keep reading, mostly from the same few, how sub-standard SSR is! That is just not the case! Obviously, they have really not stayed in a dump before!
I'll take any of the Disney resorts, before staying off site. I agree that SSR has some bugs to work out, after all it is a new resort. Not everyone wants room service, valet parking, indoor hallways, and poolside food, as has been expressed by many owners here. I also, don't mind a little walk to the pool, the excercise never hurts and it's not like the pool is 5 miles away!

Everyone has the same booking rules. We will all have to book in advance to get what we want. I know that Disney plans to keep building and has enough space to keep going for several decades. There are probably going to be more built as big, if not bigger, than SSR.

Once again, I was not trying to be mean.

I've been reading these posts and the truth is that SSR guest are stuck swimming in a small mud puddle that comes from the run off of BWV. It does feel good though after you spend the night in an unairconditioned trailer. There is talk of putting a full service popeyes chicken just a stones throw from the outhouse. That'll be just dandy. Sure hope it has lots of seats though. I feel real so self concious in my tank top and cutoffs when we hitch hike over to the on site resorts.. There is bus service but it stops in Newark on the way to the parks

I can hardly wait!!

Another thought... What percentage of DVC owners does the DIS represent? Have we taken into consideration that new owners, SSR owners, who have just purchased are not fairly represented. That would certainly skew the numbers on polls, etc... These folks bought at SSR for a reason, correct? And I sincerely doubt that the mass majority purchased just to go to SAB, order room service and have their cars gently parked by valet.

Is it more than possible that these new owners have not yet discovered the magic, the joy and the fellowship that we call The Dis?

probable=imo, no

I would tend to think that current owners of dvc who have owned for 5+ years would tend to be better sources of info then newer members. Once again, that is just IMO.

ok, beca you have got to be kidding!! how many times has B3 and his friend hijacked threads and done NOTHING but insult, insinuate, and criticize others?? you know what? i agree with the "not nice" person that wrote that. i know that i, along with MANY people (and no i am not going to "tabulate", i have gotten numerous PMs from people that are just as sick of the 2 of them as i am) are sooo tired of hearing all the SSR bashing, insults to the owners, our intelligence, having what we "need" thrown down our throats. believe it or not, not all DVC owners need "THEME", characters, 1200 people-filled pools, room service (never!!!), valet, indoor halls, BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! i am soooo glad that SSR people are sticking up for our home. i'm sick and tired of going on a thread and seeing the same old BS over and over. and poll after poll of "who hates ssr?" "who wants to blow up ssr?" "who wants ssr to have personal butt wiping service?". god people - grow up, get a hobby, and plain old just get a life already!!!!!! it seems the ssr owners, (minus mr. #1 troublemaker D), have so much other useful stuff to do with our lives than sit around, bash other people, their preferences, their home resorts, the cars they drive, the clothes they wear, count how many times they did this or that, BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH!! honestly, that is what the constant SSR owners think when they read your threads!! and i know bc 42.9% of the 1000 people at 56.7839797% of the 400 times the 23423432% told me so!!!!! and to the person that said "just don't go", i salute you!!!!!! I have made it a point to draw NO conclusions on that thread...it is just a thread that shows numbers. It was designed to be helpful to owners in determining how important or not important the 7 month window is for their particular resort...I think it has been both helpful, and interesting. Do you think I am lying in my numbers? Is that what has you upset, or do you not like what the numbers show, or do you just not like the fact I am doing the poll. I am totally serious in this question...I certainly did not mean to offend ANYONE with that poll. I actually thought it might give some "credibility" to both sides of the "never ending" debate on these boards. Please let me know what you think is wrong with it...I would love to hear it.

I hate to speak for Beca here (most people like to distance themselves from the Daitcher) but her question is a valid one. How can anyone have a problem with her poll? I will take the lead here and thank her for her hours of work on that thread.

People have taken offense to my posts about SSR. Why? Who cares what I think? I'm off my rocker right? I'm just a resort basher, right? I don't get offended when someone rips my favorite resort.

We are all entitled to post our views. Do you really want a board with nothing but glowing reviews? Also do we want a board where a little humor and good natured ribbing isn't allowed?


Does anyone here think Beca is making up the numbers in her poll? I hope not.

her goal is to drive re-sale prices of ssr down, so she can nab one on the cheap.

I'm not an SSR basher, I don't hate it. I actually like quite a few things about it like the spa, and the quiet, and the decor. However, I don't see what the harm is in suggestion a few little improvements like another themed pool

I like the poll. I think its interesting, especially the comments. Poll is a snap shot of disboard members only. So the results are skewed to only active, current members. Also, I am sure there are alot of new DVC members (not exclusive to just SSR) who have not found this board.

Again, thanks for your effort!

Oh yeah, I forgot to say something else. You have take the poll with a grain of salt. Its not fact, just this weeks winds blowing on the board!

I've had posts removed for much less than you and susanwashere have posted. Please show me where I'm bashing SSR? The part about the pm's is true because I am now on the verge of being thrown off these boards. Complaining to the board monitors because I post a thread about SSR? Please, maybe if I see my bashes, I'll know the error of my ways. My SSR critical eye thread was not bashing. Most of it was fact. I've posted some things that warranted being removed but certainly nothing I've posted about SSR warrants that.

I promise you guys this... When B3 and I are thrown off the boards these boards will not be a better place for it. What is wrong with trying to lighten up the place a little. The info. is great but it can be so dry. I'm not a mean spirited basher like you guys say.

I love these boards and to be thrown off for a little sarcasim and honesty is really sad. I just don't get it. Also I get as many pm's saying how much they enjoy my work.

If I'm gone I'm sure you guys will feel good knowng you had a hand in it.
