Why no SSR love?

What did I miss?!? We had to go to preschool, so now I have to read pages 8 through 12 to get caught up. My DH wonders what his non-computerish wife has been doing at the computer later...little does he know.

If members have a problem booking at 10 months out, the problem is not other resorts. Its from their own fellow home resort owners.

True, at the BWV, the 11 month day by day is driven by competition from other BWV home resort owners. That aggressive a ressie strategy again is really only necessary if one is as picky as we are, ergo, a BW view villa during high/holiday seasons or a standard view during the Food and Wine Festival.

But the fact you are pretty much DOA on getting anything decent at the BWV below perhaps 10.5 months shows the level of the demand (owners at that resort know they can't procrastinate because in many cases everything disappears at 7 months). Or stated differently, unlike most of the other DVC resorts, the 11th month windows at BWV and BCV aren't just important to owners, they're critical.

And that ties into my original point. Again, I willing to bet that if we could "debrief" a few DVC ressie CMs, they'd state that on any given day, the most requests that are coming in at exactly the 7th month window are for BWV or BCV. That would be followed by HH (only for mid June to mid August ressies) and perhaps Vero for the same timeframe. The back end of the line would likely consist of WLV (which granted is very tough to get at 7 months during holidays and certain weeks of high seasons), Key West and -- yes, at the very end -- "DVC Lite" (a.k.a. SS).

Interesting thread. I'm an SSR owner, and have only stayed at BCV thus far. We don't have children, and like being close to Epcot. Once we have children we will probably try to book at SSR and/or OKW. I always book on short notice, and am pretty flexible, so the whole "buy where you want to stay" doesn't affect me, as I will never be able to plan 7 months ahead anyway.

I wonder if the same DVC members who are afraid that the SSR owners will steal their rooms, will not hesitate to book a trip at CR (assuming the CR DVC rumors are true) in the future?

I love the flexibility of DVC, and do not think I should be made to feel guilty for staying at the various DVC resorts. I think the BCV/BWV should be more concerned about their fellow owners that use home court advantage to gobble up the ressies during peak time, just to turn around and list them on ebay.

I have been on these forums for a few yrs now and I have seen the neg. response to each new DVC that comes along. When we bought at VWL, it was the new kid on the block. I had never seen it, never been on that 1st trip. I began to notice a recurring theme that VWL was getting a bad rap. Well it caused me concern as well. I began to question our purchase. After a few posts from some DVCers who calmed my nerves, I settled back, made that 1st trip and the rest is history.

My point is, it seems the newest DVC resort always faces scrutiny. It happened with VWL, it happened with BCV and now its happening with SSR. I sense a pattern here. It probably happened with BWV too.

So for those that own at SSR, and you have never been, let your concerns go, and anticipate that 1st trip home. We have been there, it is a beautiful, spacious resort with much promise for the future. We would stay there again. Of course VWL is nicer, but its our home

If it was being sold as a DDD resort package I would agree.

"on site" to me, means that you can walk to the attractions.

I don't think that BWV or BCV is "on site" to Animal Kingdon or Magic Kingdom.

If i am going to get on a bus, I might as well be staying at the Marriot.

Thanks, reading this guys posts make me wonder if I've ever went as far as this guy? I certainly hope not and I don't rememebr branding a whole group of resort owners as trash. Really, maybe something good will come of this, because I wouldn't want to stoop to this guys level. I'll be reading my posts much closer from now on. Name calling is too much.

Well, some of your posts haven't been the most..ahem...tactful, but there's a sort of earnestness to your posts that I think lets people know you're trying to be helpful.

B3 was kidding about the family in the minivan, wasn't he? Otherwise, I'll have to get all Mrs. Huxtable and give a speech about how we had a choice between a new minivan or adopting a child. And I'm sure no one want a lecture about that.

Oh, and why in the world do people at VWL and BCV want to hear the negative comments about their resort? Isn't ignorance bliss? Don't ruin it for yourselves!

We bought BWV because we spend 90% of our time at Epcot or MGM. We want to WALK to Epcot. We bought BWV because that's where we want to STAY. Not at SSR or even a CRV. Sorry, but we aren't terribly flexible on this point. But luckily, we do plan far out.

I will , but that will open up MY ROOM which is a ten min walk from epcot and a 20 min walk from MGM.

I have NO DESIRE to stay at DDD. if i wanted to be a bus ride away from all the parks i would have bought marriot on the resale mkt. VERY VERY cheap.

They yelled at the MGR of cape may until she let them use one CS dinning plan credit, for 4 people at the buffet. I saw the loan papers for SSR hanging out of the ladies back pocket. She went about 315 and was wearing spandex shorts.

Ok, for one thing my spandex shorts don't have pockets! And I wasn't wearing them that day anyway - they were denim! Get your eyes checked And I don't weigh 315! I am a little under 312 - maybe I was bloated that day due to my "female time" - so my PMS prob also made me yell at the MGR. It was a bad day for us. My last 2 bottom teeth fell out while I was trying to open a beer bottle, I got a call that day that my single wide trailer burned that day bc I left socks in the oven to dry since my dryer broke and my common law hubby was too drunk to fix it. So my 4 illegitimate grandkids carried it out onto the front lawn with the other appliances that don't work. I'm going to plant some flowers in the dryer like I put in our broken sink, toilet, and flat tires off our broken down minivan. When it rains it pours.... Good thing I have lots of SSR points to use for BWV. I think my family of 13 will have to stay there (squeezed into a 1 BR) now that our trailer burned. Hope to see you there!

You know I am a dirtbag SSR owner and I stole Triple B's BW view rooms TWO OF THEM this year with my lowdown stinky SSR points...heck since the there was only 1 bathroom for me and my 14 younguns (not fergettin all the kin we snuck into our studio) we used the ceeee-ment pond fer bathin...

You know I am reserved at a 2BR at the dump by Daytona (you know SSR) but heck I bet I could get like FOUR of Tri-B's rooms fer that price!!!

Woo heee me and my lime green luggage is a comin - heck I will break out the All Star mugs we got 9 years ago fer drinks!!!!

Hey, 3B, don't forget your guide when you stay at your home. You'll need a local guide to get you from the elevator to your room about 13 miles away. It may only be a 5 min walk to Epcot, but you have at least 40 min to get to your room. But you can get a beer from the refrigerator while you're standing on that itty bitty balcony.

Hmmmmm that is odd??? Seems like an awful lot of work to rally about folks taking up space at his beloved resort when he doesn't even stay there
