Why no purple magic band?

It seems that the early version of the magic band came in purple. I wonder why they decided not to continue offering it.

I wish I knew. I liked the purple one. As far as I know it was never offered to the public, but just part of the concept image.

I've been thinking this for a while and was considering posting something about it but eventually deemed it too trivial! LOL, but I'm glad it was mentioned....my favorite color has been purple basically my whole life. I've never been a pink girl, so I don't want to choose the pink band. I've decided to go with blue, which is fine...but it still bums me out that I can't rock a purple band for the duration of my trip!

It seems strange that they would offer essentially every other "basic" color but not purple.

I have seen people get the gray bands and use nailpolish (light purple) to 'paint' them.
1. base coat
2. purple
3. base coat
4. base coat


The TOP coats tend to chip on the magic bands so use base coat instead.

I figure I'll be making my own purple cover for it. They look easy to make.

I plan on looking at the leftover materials in JoAnn Fabrics and as soon as I see a purple one, I'll buy it.

Remember when we got to vote on the new color to add to M&Ms? I voted for purple. Maybe disney should let us vote for some new colors or designs. That would be fun!

My favorite MB is my purple one! I took a stock grey one that I got on my last minute trip in Jan, put a clear base coat on it. Then two coats of a beautiful purple nail polish, then a coat of base coat. Let it dry between coats.
I've been told that Disney 1. Can't get the dye color right (which I can't believe!) and 2. Disney doesn't want to do purple because its so popular...the other colors wouldn't be chosen as often.
Who knows.

Agree with #2 there. Probably too may people would want the purple lol. I like green so that's my band color, but yeah a purple band would be cool

I don't see why they would care if other colors are not chosen though. My only thought as to why they would care would be that more people may shell out the money for the MB wrap in purple if it wasn't available. Money is the bottom line of course.

Add me to the bunches that would love to see purple though. Everyone else has picked a color for our trip except me. I just don't like any of them without picking a duplicate from DH, DD or DS. As dumb as it is I would choose gray but I feel like it is a let down since it is their "generic" color and I could get it chosen for me by not making a choice or forgetting mine at home. Seems like the stepsister choice of colors that I don't want to result in.

That doesn't even make sense. I would only order purple to make up a "collection"; otherwise I have no interest in purple. I'm sure there are others right there with me.

Pink is hugely popular, especially with little girls, so couldn't they say the same for that?

Well, this is an amazing comment.

I've heard the same rumors about them having issues with production of the purple bands. I love my orange one, but the purple one looks like it would have been pretty!

Exactly why I didn't want grey! I let everybody else get the "cool" colors so I wound up picking it anyway but I'm going to get the Haunted Mansion wrap to make it even cooler than what everybody else in my family got.

I heard that the purple "bled" onto the wearer's wrist so they canned that color choice.

Hey, I have no 100% positive idea.....just repeating what I've been told by various CMs. Those two were the most often stated reason. As of Aug 30, I will have every color..well, not grey since I painted that one! My purple one is beautiful. I got a ton of shocked looks from CMs. They thought it was just a cool bracelet, until I held it up to the Mickey icon!
If you want purple, do your own.
