Why no purple magic band?

According to a review I read on Trip Advisor, the purple ones are reserved for the people staying at the really expensive Disney hotels and you have to pay extra for them. Of course, once you do, those bands will allow you to load 6 or 7 FP+ and get you to the front of the line at Harry Potter!

Some people would want it just because it would be the newest color in the offerings. Initially, there may be more people wearing the purple band, than later when the novelty wears off. In the long run, the color distribution would probably even out again, and those who favor the purple won't have to use the nail polish anymore JMO of course

A couple of us in our group asked this question just a couple of weeks ago to a management CM at MK. His response was that Disney owns the trademark or patent (I don't remember which he referred to) on the current colors already. They don't, as of yet, own a purple one, so they won't produce it. Now I took this with a grain of salt - patents or trademarks on colors?? But it was what we were told when we asked about purple...
