Exactly correct. The surface of the slides, etc. are prone to chipping only if the metal ringlets, etc. on swimwear hit it the right way- but once the surface is chipped, it starts greater harm. It's aggravating but a necessary evil!
Yes, make sure you check your swimwear for those little metal rivets, rings, zippers, etc, before you pack and go! I'm sure Disney has a pretty outlandish markup on the suits they sell at the water parks...
At first I read the title of the thread too quick and read it as "Why no metal bathing suits at water parks?" and I was going to say...LOL!!!
Who are you princess leia!?
But yes...my DB ran into this problem one time, instead of buying a new suit we just went back to the resort and he threw on some soccer shorts. Whatever works.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong (I doubt I have to worry about being corrected), but I beleive a lot of the slides are fabricated from fiberglass with a gel coat type finish. If the top coat were to get chipped away, like from metal ginglets and such, that would expose the fiberglass underneath. The exposed fiberglass could then cause harm and much discomfort if someone were to slide over it.
