Guess who's been up since 3am? No, it wasn't the new baby....

Let's see, where do I begin? DH took today off to give himself a 4 day weekend. On the weekends, DH gets up with the baby during the night. Well, last night I heard him get up with the baby and I roll over and fall back to sleep. Typical weekend, nothing new. Except last night when DH comes back in to the bedroom and wakes me from my slumber to tell me the dogs have been sprayed my a SKUNK!! :headache: :sad2: :scared:

So at 3am I get up get dressed and take the dogs to the basement to give them a bath. One of them got it really bad in the chest area, the other seems to have only stepped in the sprayed area and isn't bad. I've already called the groomer and got them an appointment today. Since they are Bichons they have longer fur, but they can say goodbye to that and wear sweaters this winter, because they are getting shaved.

Now I've got to air out the house while the kids are in school and the dogs are getting cleaned up. It's only going to be about 50 degrees today so I'm gonna dig out the space heater and stay in my bedroom with the baby.

Oh, to top it all off, Noel (the stinky one) is limping too. She just had surgery to repair a torn ACL. If I have to pay for another surgery I'm gonna freak!:scared:

Ack! What a mess!

It'll be a funny story -- some day.

When I was pregnant and on bedrest with DD9 we lost power during a hurricane. Our sump pump was filling up, DH had gone to work, and DS-then-8 had to bail. And bail. And bail. It sure wasn't funny at the time, but it's a story we'll never forget.

Oh that really stinks (sorry!)! It's bad enough just dealing with the skunked dogs, but to be totally sleep deprived on top of it all makes it so hard. My lab got skunked a couple months ago, but not too badly. Dawn dish liquid seemed to get most of the smell. Snuggle up with that baby and try to get some rest!!

I've got the house open and lots of layers on. Dogs are at the groomers and baby is sleeping.

When a dog I used to have would get skunked (at least once a year for several years), I used to put a solution of peroxide/baking soda solution on him, let it sit as long as he would let it, rinse, and then wash him again with Pert shampoo. There would still be a faint smell after that, but he was an outside dog, so after a couple of days the smell would wear off.
