We love character buffets. We've do not understand this one though: "Playhouse Disney's Play 'N Dine at Hollywood & Vine" with Jo Jo and Goliath from "Jo Jo's Circus" .

Does anyone have an explanation why characters that have not been on the air since 2007 are still hosting a character buffet? This show only ran for what 3 years? Is there some cult following that loves them? Do any of the kids that eat there now even know who they are?

Playhouse Disney has so many characters and I am sure they have costumes for them. Why do they continue to use such outdated characters?

We dropped that meal for our upcoming trip for that very reason...well that and the constant poor reviews. Don't get me wrong, my oldest was a JoJo freak but that was 3 years ago and th couple of Little Einsteins that are there was just not enough to draw us in.

I wonder with Toy Story 3 coming out soon if they aren't planning on changing it to a TS theme in the summer.

I don't have an answer but this seems to be a consistent complaint about WDW they are too slow to change especially when it comes to new characters and utilizing them appropriately. Even in the Playhouse Disney show it took them years to change the Rollie Pollie Ollie and Stanley for years after they were off the air.

They would clean up with a Toy Story/Secret Agent Oso/etc.. character meals. Everything is so geared toward girls and the princesses that most families (who have boys) would also choose a "boys" meal for their sons. These characters have cross over appeal and could include Bo Peep, Jessie, etc...

:)

My son would FLIP if he got to eat breakfast with OSO. I think an OSO/Handy Manny combo would be perfect for this location. They do desparately need to update it. Even the Little Einsteins are not on TV as much anymore.

That being said, my DS (21 months at the time), who did not know JoJo and Goliath, still enjoyed the meal and seeing them.

This one puzzles me... There are SO MANY other characters at Hollywood Studios... why are we still looking at JoJo? What would be nice if Disney had character meals where the appearing characters were a suprise! And always changing every meal!

But, even with characters, the food at Hollywood and Vine is so bad.... I'm still not sure I'd eat there again! Read the reviews... it's hard to find a good one about the food.

Think of all the other characters seen at Hollywood Studios -- Buzz, Woody, Green Army Man, Power Rangers, Up Characters, the incredibles, Monsters Inc., etc..... How about sorcerer Mickey?

I agree. I think it's great that they have one meal geared towards the really little kids, it's just too bad they haven't updated the characters! My son has no idea who JoJo is and the Little Einsteins aren't enough of a draw for us. I think Toy Story would be a HUGE hit, although then it wouldn't be geared towards the little ones specifically. Handy Manny or OSO are great suggestions I think, if that was the lineup, we'd be there! :)

We agree, although my DD6.5 still loves JoJo - we just watched a JoJo DVD the other day! Since the food and service is horrible there, I don't think even if they changed the characters, we'd go, but we might be inclined to give it another chance, if we saw Handy Manny, Oso or Toy Story.

Disney is way behind the times in terms of Playhouse Disney stuff, which is silly as that age group really loves characters!

I agree with you and wished that they would change the characters in this place. I was hoping that we could leave this out on our next trip but my son loves going here b/c of the dance time and the musical parade here. He still likes the Little Einstein b/c he watch the show on Saturday but he does not watch JoJo b/c they don't show that anymore...He did say will agent Oso be at the restuarant since he is new. He even asked if he will see Darby but I hear they removed her in MK. So if they remove characters that are still in Disney tv why can't they remove JoJo.

Jo Jo still comes on TV in Canada. But my daughter doesn't really watch it so that's why we are skipping H&V. It would be awesome if they changed it to Handy Manny and Oso :cheer2: Do it, do it, do it :cheer2: Almost anyone would be better than the current line up :confused3

How could I forget OSO?!?! My little man would go nuts to eat with him...and Manny.

we did Jo Jo's breakfast with our two grandkids and our son and dil and my hubby.....we had a great time and the kids enjoyed the singing with the Einsteins and someone else who I dont know.....The food was good too.....We had our fill of breakfast fare and also fresh fruit and the waitress filled our coffee and orange juice and made sure we were all set.
I think it was a good choice.....Even though I had never seen the shows..

I wish they would do a Toy Story or Monsters or any other character meal than Jo Jo..I would go eat there!

I definitely think Disney World is long overdue for a Pixar character meal. DHS would be the perfect location for it too! Mike and Sulley, Woody and Buzz, The Incredibles, WALL-E would all be great! But I understand if they want to gear the restaurant more to the little ones and keep with the Playhouse Disney theme. In that case, Handy Manny would be great to replace JoJo, even if they kept Little Einsteins (at least they are still on TV sometimes). Special agent OSO or Phineas & Ferb would be great too!

My kids love all of the above characters I mentioned, and they did love the H&V breakfast in summer 2008. But they knew who JoJo was and were very into Little Einsteins. I make our ADRs on Thursday and will be making an early ADR for H&V since we are still torn whether or not to go...I can always cancel. But getting into the park early is very appealing too! I also don't want to skip making an ADR, just in case Disney does decide to change the characters...July is still a long way to go.

Are phineas and ferb on playhouse disney? My DD is only 3 so we aren't into that show but I was thinking that it came on after the 'playhouse' shows. I say add Ooh and Aah. As long as they are the hosts of playhouse disney, they wouldn't have to worry about changing the buffet. My DD LOVED this character experience last year. We will be doing this a week from Sunday again. Even though JoJo doesn't come on anymore, she still loves the Einsteins!

I just wish they would update it with more current Playhouse Characters. It's not like Disney does not have the costumes!

Weird...I was just pondering this very thing on my drive home from work. I would love any Pixar meal! I will, of course, book no matter what. It's the only character meal at HS.
