DH and I are really wondering about this. There is a "Doggie Pot" poop bag station between the WL and VWL buildings, by the walkway along the lake. Now, it is possible that these are for service dogs, but honestly...are they there because WDW knows that people are sneaking dogs into the Villas? We just found this very odd when we saw it.

Interesting, but I wonder if it isn't because folks in the campground might be walking their dogs along the paths.

I've never seen this :confused3 Maybe people that have pets staying at the kennels near FW use the walkway?

I saw that too, but it is not a "walking area for the fort/kennels" it is as you go around the back of the Lodge by the marina... Random place... The other thing we noticed was on the Spa Rules at the Hidden Springs pool (the Villas Pool) it said no pets allowed in the spa??? I used to work at WL but have not been there for about 3 years... I think I might send an email to some old friends and ask about that. I totally forgot about it until I saw this post.

I think that during the hurricanes last year, there were some CMs who volunteered to stay there and work during the hurricane. In exchange, WL let them, their families, and their pets, stay at VWL, making a Doggie station necessary at that time. Since then, either they haven't gotten around to removing it or they're leaving it "just in case" for the future. I'm not sure if this is the case, but I think I might have heard it.

there is that person who has a service dog who generally stays at VWL.

they been recorded more than once.

So it might be for them.

Actually, it's part of the theming of this great resort. Disney is so thorough that they've trained the wild animals in the area to come use the "facilities", or at least make them easy for pick up!

Is Disney awesome or what? :cool1:

I've seen service dogs more than once at the lodge. As a matter a fact, I've seen them there a lot! So maybe there are some repeat guests that stay there with service animals.

That's funny, granny. :rotfl:

I noticed that spot too when we were there in Nov. I thought it was odd. Then I saw a man come along with his service dog use this spot and it then made sense to me LOL!!! I did find it strange because I don't rmember seeing a spot like this at the other resorts. :scratchin

Come to think of it, you would think they would have to have a spot like that at ALL resorts for service animals! There is a family of blind folks who we have met and visited with on several different OKW stays. They each have a service dog (3 of them) and I have never seen a pet relief station at OKW.

That's right, I now remember seeing a few deer walking around with toilet paper on their hooves!!

We saw someone training a future service dog during our last VWL stay. I thought it was a great place to take the dog for its training. I wonder if WL is considered more "service-dog friendly" than the other Resorts or if they have some kind of deal there for the dog trainers? Maybe the boat to MK is more service-dog friendly than the bus or monorail?

I am confused - I though all service dogs (even those in training) had to wear a certain outfit - to let people know they were service dogs and not to try to pet them.
