Why is the receipt so long?

Don't forget Staples! Especially when you buy something that has a rebate! Lol.

::yes:: The rebate prints out on the receipt, but then they print out a duplicate of just the rebate in case you missed it the first time. :confused3 Since I submit my rebates online, there really is no need for the duplicate.

CVS's CMO says:

"Hi everyone: We know that you love ExtraCare Savings and Rewards. As part of our commitment to find ways to provide you with even more value, we've gone LONG on savings. And, as you've noticed, our receipts have gotten lengthier too. Over the past few days we've been listening to you (and we've also seen the very creative uses for your receipts)! You asked for ALL the savings and LESS paper. So, we've found a way to reduce the size of the ExtraCare portion of your receipts by 25% while still providing you all the coupons and rewards. The smaller, value-packed receipts will start printing in the coming weeks. Many of you are already using our Send to Card feature which enables paperless redemption for select ExtraCare offers. We're excited to let you know that early next year, you'll be able to send all of your offers directly to your card. We hope you will continue to redeem each of your personalized offers but for the ones you don't use, please don't forget to recycle! Thanks for the feedback. And thank you for making ExtraCare the #1 Retail Loyalty Program in the world."

Rite Aid is really bad too. I think they have their own version of the Send to Card, as my reward dollar go to my rewards card. But, they still give about an 18" receipt. :sad2:

I hate the CVS receipts and coupons. Especially when the teenage boy behind the counter decides to read the coupons out loud for me....as in, you can save $1 on your next feminine hygiene product! And he was actually happy for me about that coupon!

For a while they asked me every time if I wanted a bag. No, I'll just juggle the 20 items I bought out of the store!! Apparently that was their attempt to go green by saving on bags.

No, this is many store's way to be cheap and save money on bags, under the 'guise' of being green. They provide LESS of a service than what they used to provide. I've even been to stores that will charge 2-3 cents for a plastic bag that they used to provide FREE. Bags aren't a 'convenience,' they are a necessity when you've purchased 20 items.

And if you are at a shopping mall, where you will be going immediately into another store, bags are needed to provide a wrapping on an item you bought elsewhere, when the new store also sells that item. Nothing like being suspected of shoplifting and have to provide a receipt from the other store, if security suspects the un-bagged item in your purse had been shoplifted from their store.

If stores really wanted to be 'green' they'd provide paper bags. there is also the new technology of bio-degradable plastic bags. But, these cost more than regular plastic or paper bags. Again, stores don't want to pay to provide those.

Or, I've actually seen those huge cardboard receptacle boxes where people bring in their used plastic bags to be recycled. They are usually stuffed full. If the store's really wanted to be 'green,' they'd have those recycled bags by each register and tell the customers to re-use those bags to carry out their groceries.

I've noticed grocery stores around here have just stopped bagging certain items for me: newspapers, detergent, milk, toilet paper... They just out those in my cart unbagged. I appreciate the sentiment but it makes it really hard to carry into the house without having to make multiple trips.

I also need those plastic bags for the cat litter!

Yes CVS and Kmart have a mile long receipt/s.

Everyone is right - they are things we do not buy or never go back for. It's their way of getting you back in. I wonder if it works.

When I receive $10 Kohls cash back, I never return to use it. You are given a time frame. They are on the other side of the island so don't bother. The trick is to buy something that is worth $10 or a bit more. Not worth the trip or I know I will end up spending more money.

Recently I did go back because I had a $50 cash card. At this time, I was having a conversation with the cashier re:above and she informed me not to throw them out, they honor the cash card even past the time frame. Will try it in the future.

Pizza Hut has long receipt tapes also. We order pizza for our classes on Saturday & only order pepperoni with hand tossed crust to make it simple. Last week we ordered 10 pizzas. Do you think they could just do 10 x the item??? Nooooo, they ring up each pizza on a line by itself, then the discount under each pizza and all the other stuff. Wouldn't bother me as much if I didn't have to tape that receipt on a form to send in to main office.

On the up side Market Baskets print the receipt on both sides of the paper so a cart full of groceries ends up with a very short receipt! There are no coupons at the end either, but I found I never used them so that doesn't matter to me.

CVS has that kiosk where you scan your card and it spits out coupons. I wish it told you your offers on the screen and let you accept only the ones you want- or none- before it prints them out. Nine times out of ten, I am not in there to buy any of the items I get coupons for- and the paper is about a foot and a half in length. Really wasteful.
