Why is the first week of Dec so crowded?

We called on Monday (11/12) and got a studio for SSR for the nights of 12/3,12/4 & 12/5. There is a lot going on that week. 11/30 & 12/1 taping of Christmas parade. 12/4 DVC owners meeting and of course the Christmas party at MK.

You might want to keep checking back with member services (MS) everyday or go on a waitlist for all DVC resorts for those days. I bet you SOMETHING will come up. Don't give up.

I'm supposedly on 13 different waitlists!

Now I'm confused... if I truly am on the lists... how did somebody call and get one of the nights I needed? Do they only fill my request if all three opened up?

Thanks,
Eric

Yes if you did not ask for each night seperate I believe that they will not fill your waitlist until they have all three nights. As for it being busy I love that week and will be there this year. Beautiful weather, decorations and I love seeing Santa at disney. Good Luck!:goodvibes

There's also those of us who are taking extended family that week and have reserved extra rooms. I would think there's others doing the same thing at this popular time of year.

Eric,
Call 407-W-DISNEY. Check availability with them. This is the # to Disney's CRO-Central Reservations Office (aka Walt Disney Travel Company). This is completely separate for DVC Member Services and rooms they would have on cash or points.

I've found availability over the phone with Disney reservations when the web sites have said there's none. It's worth a shot.

I tried for a few years to book the beginning of December at BWV (at the 7 month window) without any luck. Wait list never came through for me. In fact, that is why I eventually bought my BWV points!

Last year, we found out in August that we would be able to make our early December trip, but alas no rooms at the inn. In fact there was absolutely nothing available on points. I then turned to the other Disney resorts on points, with no luck..except for ONE room left at AKL which we quickly grabbed.

Early December is definitely peak time for DVC'ers!

Just booked a studio at SSR for Dec 1st. Just on a whim. I guess lucky to get anything this late in the game, although MS said availability on a Friday or Saturday was easier to get due to the increase in points required.
:yay:

OK... so two people got two of three nights I'm waiting for and I'm supposedly on 13 wait-lists and I called and made sure that they're individually by day.

This wait-list system works great.

I feel like selling.

That is frustrating. MS is opened late tonight. Why don't you call them and tell them that what has happened and ask again if anything is available anywhere for those nights.

I've had more luck getting my waitlists to come through by calling MS to have them "check" for a match. Sometimes things are there.

And I'd keep calling them every day if I were you.

those studios might have came open because my waitlist for a 1 bd came open I had studio at SSR since 11 month window Dec 2-7, due to DH"S snoring I wanted a 1 bd so I could get some sleep.

Woo-hoo!

I just got one night.

Only homeless for two now!

Do not give up. A couple of years ago I got a full stay (studio SSR) within days during this time. This sometimes happens b/c at 7 days out there isn't a waitlist (I was never on one anyway). Everyone has to call in on their own. I called on a whim and she went off the phone for quite awhile and got me the full stay. I'm sure she was phoning the resort/or CRO/whomever b/c sometimes I think the rooms pool back in somehow if not booked. I don't know.

Last year, I was waitlisted for five days in December BWV, Standard 1 bedroom. Nothing came. And then at six days out, when there is no waitlist, I called and got it. (I was booked for OKW, so had a back up on this one)

Lucky, lucky girl am I.

Do not forget the 7 day or less daily call in.

Lisa

OK... question for all of you who are clearly better at this than me...

Let's say at the end, all three nights at the same place turn up... can I get out of the one night that's booked?

Thanks,
Eric

Yes, no problem if it's one day out or more. No issues whatsoever. They will simply put that day of points in a holding account for a second and immediately take it out to make the three day reservation. No issues.

The day of is the only time it won't work.

And like I've said, 7 days or less, this would be a daily, or hourly?!?!, call in by you to see availability.

Well night 3 came through...

First night at OKW...
Second night homeless...
Third night BCV.

I'm getting there!

At least now I can make my DME reservation!

In mid-October, my DW found a great price on airfare for a quick trip Dec 3rd-6th. SWA Mannchester, NH to MCO $59 each way!:woohoo: We then went about booking a resort. We wanted a one bedroom....forget about it...nothing. We finally booked the Carribean Beach on points so we would have a place to stay. We then called virtually ever day for three weeks and were hoping for a monorail resort as we were told that DVC properties would not be available. Last week we ended up upgrading to a Garden Wing room at the Conemporary Resort, I am stoked!!
The lesson we learned is call every day, cancellations happen. We are very excited to finally see MVMCP and check out the great decorations and even get a round of golf in at Magnolia. 12 days to go!!:thumbsup2

:cool1: Let us know when that middle night comes through!

OK... got night 2 today!

They actually called and said a few places opened up for that night.... and let us pick which one we wanted.

Though it was starting to sound interesting to stay in 3 different resorts in 3 night, but we opted for another night at OKW to try and make it a little less stressful.

Since this is a quick trip for my wife's birthday (without our 3 kids) moving around shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Thanks for all the help.

Eric
