Why is Test Track seem to break down so much?

I haven't personally experienced this, but I hear people more and more saying that when they were at Epcot Test Track wasn't running. Is it more because of weather or something else?

It is just an extremely complex ride, very large, lots of things going on. If there is a 'hiccup' it shuts down. And then like a computer, needs to do a reboot and check everything before ready to go again.

1) Unfortunately, it is a very complicated ride.
2) And, the engineers did a poor job of interlinking the systems. *
3) Thus, one hiccup and the the whole system goes into shutdown mode.

* My past company designed rides and other systems, and there are far better ways to link computers.

And add to that ... Test Track normally shuts down in the rain and also if lightning is in the area.

So if Test Track was entirely indoors, it would probably shut down as much as Space Mountain. :)

I think Test Track is probably the most touchy ride in all of WDW. But I still love it!

We had 2 funny experiences on Test Track. The first one was a few years ago. For some reason, we were going extremely SLOW during the speeding part outside. It was such a weird feeling since you're going at an angle and we were moving so slow, it almost felt like we were going to fall!!! Then in Feb 2008 we experienced a completely different weird situation. Our car had a sound problem and ALL we heard through out the ride was "LEFT LEFT LEFT LEFT LEFT LEFT" NON stop from beginning til end. We were about to go crazy and some people in our car were riding it for the first time and thought it was pretty strange:rotfl: . When we got out of our car, we told the cast member about the problem and they told us that we could ride again with no wait and in a "normal" car with the normal dialogue.

And, well, hate to say it but I will. If something went wrong and that car didn't make that turn when it's outside and doing 60 MPH, I really don't think Disney wants to handle that mega-lawsuit.

Personally, I think it is because the cars are constantly going over those Belgian and German blocks all day long :)

Also, this ride had so many issues during construction it was a full 3 YEARS behind schedule in opening.

A lot of times it Is Weather related . ive rode it while it was raining lightly , through The Speed loops the rain Stings even if its a little sprinkle , theres also some technical issues with Test track too , but it Usually doesnt last long just come back in an hour or so its usually back up by then ...

Test Track has always broken down a lot - not a new thing. Part of its charm. ;)

It does! Last time it broke down when I was in line, and I got tired of waiting[I waited half an hour and still nothing] and since it was the end of the day, I just decided to get out of line and go to another ride. So hopefully next time I'll get to ride it! I've never actually been stuck on it though.

It is a very large ride, as the people have said here it's got to be hard to get everything running again.
