Why is "Home on the Range" rated PG?

We'd like to take DS3 to see Home on the Range today, but I just noticed that it is rated PG.

Has anyone seen this? What is in it that makes this movie PG and not G??

Is it appropriate for a 3 year old??

Any advice and opinions are welcome! Thanks!

Thanks Dan! That's a real good site to know!

I heard it was because one of the cows had a costume malfunction and exposed an udder :p

We saw it yesterday with DD, almost 4 yo, young cousins, almost 11 yo and 9 yo. Cute movie, ok animation and a great soundtrack.

There are some jokes that had the adults chuckling but went zooming over even the 11 yo's head. There is also quite a lot of belching which the kids thought was hysterical. :p

Overall, I wouldn't have any trouble taking a little one, the music is really catchy and the bad guy's stichk is that he yodels. There is a gun for one very brief moment but that is it.

Go and have fun! :)

OMG! We must be on the same wavelength. I was going to post this question myself. I read in the paper today it was PG and asked DD and her friends why. It looks harmless enough for little ones.:D

We went ahead and took DS3 to see it today. Most of the jokes went over his head, but DH and I were cracking up! I thought it was a really cute movie, DH thought it had a few good moments (he like the bulls!), but was glad it was so short (only 76 minutes). The music was really good.

On the down side, there was a lot of fighting and they used the words "stupid" and "shut up," which we don't allow at our house. DS3 doesn't scare easily, but the bison, "Junior," made him nervous - maybe it was that deeeeep voice? He said afterward that Nemo was much scarier (that's the only other film he's seen in a theater).

I think the worst influence was the belching! We went out to eat afterwards and DS3 was repeatedly pretending to burp and then giving an insincere, "excuse me!"

I'd love to hear what others thought!

I took dd6 to see the movie today. I was concerned with the PG rating. And it got a D+ review from our newspaper. But it turned out to be a cute movie. I didn't think there was anything really bad in it. Adult humor went over dd's head. There was just an awful lot of belching and all the kids were laughing.

We saw it today. I thought it was cute! The kids the theater were roaring with laughter! DD and friend thought it was a fun movie. They liked the burping.
