Why is everyone automatically a good parent and a good driver?

But I bet he learned to be more careful on the stairs, right :thumbsup2. How is this bad parenting unless you pushed him because he was 3 and having a major temper tantrum :lmao:.

:rotfl2:He was just learning to crawl. Everyone warns you about how fast they can get away...I learned the hard way! I think I cried more than he did!
I also cried when I got my first speeding ticket!

I've been thinking about this for a while... These two areas seem to be beyond reproach in every way. And if someone does dare to suggest otherwise, all heck breaks loose. Why is that?

Please note, I am neither a parent (perfect or otherwise) nor a perfect driver. However, my mother was both. ;):rotfl:

This made me laughed. I had a part time job in college working at an insurance company call center. You'd be amazed that every single call I took to report an accident, it was "Always the other guys fault" or "the other guy always appeared out of no where" :rotfl2:

I'm just amazed here how every one is a stellar parent and no one is every in debt.

Are you kidding? Not a day goes by that I'm not convinced that I have screwed up my children beyond repair.

I am a pretty good driver, though!

Strange question. WHO said everyone was a stellar parent/driver?!:confused3We rake people over the coals here every single day and tell them they are ****ty parents (maybe not in those words).....and I've never seen anything about everyone being great drivers.

It just seems to be a pervasive attitude. It is utterly forbidden to comment on someone's parenting, even when the child is clearly out of control. (In real life, not on the DIS boards.) We also immediately assure people contemplating children that, "You'll be SUCH a good parent!" I just wonder where that came from? It clearly isn't true.

The other came from talking to people in general, not from the boards. We're starting to get snow here so our drivers are facing winter conditions. Again, it just seems like driving is a skill that everyone is automatically great at.

Am I really the only one who has noticed this? Ah well, it was an idle question anyway. :flower3:

Because I am Mary Poppins, practically perfect in everyway.

Seriously, I am not a perfect driver or parent. I am pretty sure my son can name everytime I have embarassed him or all the times I have muttered curse words for every ticket I have got.
